Have any of your players booked holidays for the long weekend tara? I know a number of players have, why shouldn't the umpires?

I hope plenty of Moorebank players have booked holidays...and non-refundable ones too

Junior the number of umpires who officiated last week as field umpires represent 40% of the appointments for the entire round yet the games they officated in represent only 20% of total scheduled for play in round 9.

I would imagine that 20% unavailability accross their entire group would be possible - and based on those numbers there should be more than enough to go around.

If most club had 20% of their committed players unavailable then I reckon that most would get by - 40% and I reckon their would be a hell of a lot of forfiets and if not some unexpected losses or lopsided results.

And to answer you SHH have a look at our teamsheet this weekend and that should answer any queries.

The number of match day transfers will slow down very soon with school & uni exams/holidays coming up.
Sounds reasonable. But Ainsworth, David and Veerhius can't get a gig in the twos? Must be a decent magoos outfit?

I don't know who you have upset, Tara, but they haven't given us any umps in our Div 3 or 4 matches. Disappointing, as Div 3 is top of the table clash. Especially disappointing that four games in Div 4 have got official umpires, and we can't get one in Div 3.

Whats more disappointing is that despite no premier div games there are 5 less umpires that were orginally scheduled for divs 1-4.

Come on Tara, you should know that the only division that matters is Premier Division.

Call me pessimistic but isn't it more than co-incidence that the bottom 2 teams in 1st division have a rare victory when their first grade has a week off. Are the team lists on the sydneyafl website anywhere? Sure, the bottom team beat the third-bottom, so limited surprise there. But none of this ever happened before relegation-promotion kicked in. The league should ban anyone dropping back when a club's first grade has a week off. I bet you St George would have stacked late last year if they were close to getting off the bottom. It's as bad as denying tanking in the afl.....but that's right, only premier division counts anyway. Or maybe that doesn't count either...only Sydney Swans and GWS.....plenty of cash available there when needed.

Anyone who played the week before wasnt available unless they were a late inclusion
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

Late inclusion? Would being told Thursday night after training constitute being a 'late inclusion'?

Nice of Wollongong to take advantage of this rule to chalk up a win on the weekend.

We had 2 umpires on Sat that were both as bad as each other, they would let everything go for 10mins and then pull out the most obscure decision from no where, they then umpired 2 qtrs each in the div 3 game, and seemed to be out umpired by the 2 club umpires.
Not sure where all the other umpires were, but we were scraping the bottom of the barrel.

We were luck to have Carl Fletcher come out and umpire our game in the end thanks to SHH and along with the two club umpires we probably had the best umpiring we have received all year - have to admit though we had more chance of winning lotto for the first three quarters than getting a free kick.

Also can say Penrith must not charge enough in their canteen as almost everything was sold by the end of the day including no beers left at the end our our game but again thanks to SHH for ducking up the bottle shop and grabbing a cold carton or two so we wouldnt die from thirst.

Given that our club umpire does little more than stand in the centre square and yell out "play on!", I'm not surprised.

Well done to Moorebank on the victory, clear premiership favourites in Div 3 at this stage with a defence that is harder to penetrate than Fort Knox.

There's now a mass of teams behind them on 6-3, so it should be interesting to see who else breaks free from the pack over the next two months.

Easy to say the umpiring was good when you win .
From a losers perspective, have to agree that the umpiring was excellent from both Carl and the two clubbies. Best all year...Even though we had one of ours yellow carded and suspended, it was a correct call. Was shocked when I heard we were out of beer, lucky the bottlo was close by or might have been involved in an all-in brawl. Pies sold out quickly at $2 each (inc GST)
