Today at Benson's Lane the Nor-West Jets reserve grade side triumphed over Manly and thus recorded their 7th consecutive win.
A beaming coach Peter Kyle paid tribute to his side that had won their first game against Camden but due to player unavailability, slumped to 5 straight loses before embarking on this particular run of 7 wins. After the game, the Jets song was sung with a lot of gusto and emotion.
Jesse Pinder played his 50th game for the Jets.
Next week the Jets take on Moorebank Sports in which case a win and loses to the teams above would mean that the Jets may be in fourth spot at the end of next weekend.

With only 4 finals spots up for grabs and 14 teams in that division, there's going to be some unlucky teams to miss out.
NorWest in that division still have games against Auburn and Saints to come; that will be the real test of where they finish and whether they can make the finals.

Sorry to burst your bubble Benny but if you do happen to win against us this weekend i do not see how it is possible that you can get into the top 4 unless you win by something like 600 points as your for and against is nearly 100% diference to 4th spot at the moment.

looking at the remaining 5 games though Moorebank have the worst/best run into the finals (depending on which way you look at it) as the play all the other 5 sides in the top 6 at the moment

If Spain have a rivalry with Nova Scotia as we have with you blokes, your analogy makes sense. We are aiming at top 4, but as mentioned, our % took a battering in the first 6 games so that will most certainly come into play. Facing Moorebank, Saints and Aburn in the next few games will test us out, but we have knocked off 2 top 5 teams already, and Saints and Auburn are at home so that helps. Considering Auburn have beat most teams by 10 + goals, we aim to be competitive, so we'll see how that goes.

18s are still on the drawing board. Not an easy task though, with two teams down the road at ECE and one at Riff, but we'll still do what we can.

Hope it works out. Tough for the first year, but have to start somewhere. Nothing wrong with poaching a few East Coast lads to start with, it works for them.

Funny how you mention the "Riff" so often. A couple of years ago, ECE put on their website that they were playing "The Riff" the following week. After we towelled them up, our website referred to the victory against "East Poach Eagles" We get a call the same day from the Sydney West management asking us to take out the offending term immediately. When mentioned about the reference to "The Riff", the reply was "Thought you were thick-skinned". Gotta love the consistency, eh.

Thats a bit crook! I refer to you blokes as Riff after seeing the fine floral work on the corner of Castlereagh and Gt Western Hwy re-structured to go from PENRITH to PENRIFF, my god, that would be 10 or so years ago. For Sydney West to do that seems a bit pedantic.

We are happy with how we are travelling so far, hope to cling to 4th spot in Div 2, and hopefully keep winning in Div 4 to set up a shot at the business end. A hard road up to round 18 though.

Go back a few years and our fate was almost sealed for the year already, and the usual suspects of Manly and the uni's were all up the top of the tree. It wasn't a popular decision at the time, probably still isn't to some now, but has saved clubs like those mentioned from dying a slow death.

From what I heard of the last President's meeting the PD clubs still aren't pleased, apparently they'd be happy enough to see senior footy die west of about Newtown.

Because that's what would have happened without divisionalisation if it hadn't been instituted, and if you think that's just exagerated rhetoric then you haven't really got a clue.

All clubs in the region are now thriving, even if it is off a low base.

Amazing what the promise of competitive footy every week and a guaranteed succession pathway can do.
