Div 2,3,4 and CC Grand Final

Congratulations to Southern Power (Div 2), Moorebank Sports (Div 3), Auburn (Div 4) and Penrith (Under 18s Challenge) on taking out premiership glory at Blacktown Olympic Park today.
All four clubs were easily the top team in their grade during the season, and carried that form through the finals. Looking through the results of those grades through the season, all four clubs were worthy premiers.

In particular, I'd like to congratulate Tara, a much-respected contributor to this forum for his role in the rise of Moorebank Sports that culminated in today's premiership. Through his posts in the last few years, he's given us a real insight into the times of trial and tribulation at the club a few years ago, when they struggled to put one team on the park in the old Second Division; and how the club has got to the point of putting three teams on the field every week, and to get both their seniors and reserves into Grand Finals and a senior premiership. It's taken a lot of work to rebuild Moorebank Sports, and today was a worthy reward for effort.

There are good stories in all four Grand Finals. The Under 18s saw a dominant force from the far west, not a traditional football powerhouse area, complete an undefeated season. In Fourth Division, a new club starting from scratch with the vast majority coming from a non-English speaking background and only a minority having ever played the game before, sweeping all before them. And in Second Division, a chance for redemption after a shock loss last year.

I second everything Norris said here.
Congratulations to all the Premiership teams on the day and especially to Colesy on getting Moorebank back to where you are. Look forward to meeting you in Div 2 next season.
The Power finally earned their spot in Div 1 and will be more than competitive.
And the best thing of all about those four winners? Not a Uni team among them.

Thanks Norris - I'm not sure about the much respected bit but thanks.

This is the first site I have looked at and I honestly don't know the scores or margin becuase until the last ten minutes I didn't relax.

To Kevin and Greg and DLH well done -awsome effort to get your club where it is. Had they played some of their kids from the 18's it very well could have been different but as a club looking to the future they realised the importance of having all thier kids win a Premiership together - well done guys. For anyone that cares Penrith im my humble opinion will be a Premier Divsion club in five years time if they continue on their current path - awsome effort.

I would also like to thank a bloke that no matter how much I tried to get a game in our seniors never gave me one in Trevor Hangan - He came and sat in the box after half time with myself and Paul Prepost after who assisted me today and never imposed himself but was a good sounding board. It realy impressed on me just how much people who have been involved at our club in the past really took pride in our efforts today. Also his words to me in the rooms afterwards meant alot from someone whom I respect.

It may only be a Div three win to some but as I told my boys it will be something we will always share.

Not only that other than the Power all were from the West mind you we are a bit of both south n west.

Also Thanks to St George this year - a meeting earlier this year we hoped to achieve something with all three clubs there - well Power got what was long overdue and well deserved as did we but the Saints missed - they did however blood so many talented young locals that everyone can see that they arnt far away.

I think it is great that 4 different clubs got to enjoy premiership success yesterday ... and there will be at least one more club next week to make 5 ... but maybe even 7 different clubs as premiers ... wouldn't that be tremendous!! Also good for the 4 clubs yesterday as they probably haven't enjoyed success for quite awhile. Well done to all.

Thanks for the kind words, Tara, and congratulations on your well deserved win yesterday. We probably tested out the condition of your heart in the first half. Hope you had a great celebebration last night. Penrith cetainly did. From our first trial game of the season, we knew that Moorebank would be one tough opponent. Whether that meant that we might be fighting out the wooden spoon or the flag, I wasn't too sure. Happily it was the latter. All our games this season were played in great spirit. Tough but fair and it reflects the discipline being instilled by both clubs. You really have a great bunch of guys over there and will be a big force in Div 2 next year.
Very proud of our young team that played the clubs first seniors grand final since 1993 (beaten in that too). Great to see Dave Cummings kick two. In 16 years of playing, he has never played in a finals series let alone a grand final and looks as though he will be heading to Qld next year. Had ten of yesterday's team having their first season with the club, some of them coming back to footy after only playing juniors and some who had never played before.
Accolades to our 18's on their magnificent season being undefeated premiers and hopefully will gain promotion to Premier Cup next year. Sixteen of the squad are eligible to play 18's again next year and the response so far from the juniors wanting to move up has been outstanding so we are confident of fielding a very competitive team in PC if given the opportunity.
Well done also to Auburn on taking the Div 4 title. Moorebank deserved to be in the GF but a bit like us in Div 3, played a tough game the previous week that took it's toll.
Southern Power also deserved their long awaited flag after some nervous moments.
All in all it was a great day of GF footy yesterday with none of the garbage evidenced in last years GF. Congratulations to the six competing clubs. As Rafters said, great to see 4 different clubs share the glory on the day

Thanks Greg, I have had three hours sleep after running around Rosedale in my undies kicking a footy with like minded individuals and will be heading back there for lunch before long and more liver damage.

Bugger. If you had told your blokes you intended to do that should you win, it may have been a different result

They play to old fashioned and are coached that way as well, personally from playing at that club, they won't make premier division in seniors.

Ouch! ... so you couldn't get a run at Penrith this year, Grady1993?

No I did, but I'm just saying that the team even with the quality players coming through, they will not being Premier Division IMO, 2nd Division at best. I could be wrong though, hope they do it will show a massive improvement.

Congrats to all the Clubs involved Saturday, it was a great day. Pleasure to see some old Magpie heads around thrilled with finally winning a flag as well as bumping into some old Penrith stalwarts who were beaming with pride at having 2 sides involved on the day.
Was my first time at BOP, great place to watch the footy.

Just wanted to say congrats to those premiers and grand finalists alike. Doesn?t matter what grade it is a Premiership is a premiership. You can only play where your put and with the new structure it allows clubs a different challenge every season.
Is anyone aware of any incoming or outgoing coaches for clubs? This is a great time to start those rumors flowing.
