Drug Testing and the Sydney AFL

Apparently next season syd AFL has signed up for drug testing, could be a interesting implementation process considering a few accustations and also arrests last season???

Be interesting how the Syd AFL will bring this in, how many tests per season etc will come of it.

Mass exodus to the lower grades, or will they be tested too? Shouldn't count for rec drugs, only performance enhancing, although I remember Doc Larkin on the Footy Show did a story once, and revealed that marijuana is in fact performance enhancing. Not the munging out on Tim Tams afterwards though.

Can't see how this can be implamented to non-contracted players?

If a player playing for a premier division team hasn't signed a contract what right does the code or club have to demand their urine?

Like someone in athletics or swimming, u register for sport, you are bound by the code they sign under a lot of those athletes get tested even when not competing internationally, if you dont like u dont sign it is simple.

Only in the top div if to be believed but you have to ask how they hell are they going to pay for it given the AFL keeps tighting the purse strings? Does it mean an increase in fees accross the board?

What a massive waste of time and money if the league truely gave a f@&k about the players welfare they should lower rego costs increase player health insurances packages improve facilities further develop the game prize money for finals maybe?

You could be right. They are going hard at quite a few of our better players, offering big money. If they are doing this to all clubs, which would be a reasonable assumption, they may just buy a finals spot.

why wouldnt the league spend the money on paying for umpires instead of the clubs having to do so, this is a huge joke and waste of resources.

They couldnt grow from there 18's as they folded last season, wonder if they last a full season this year.

This is the funniest thing I've ever heard.

If they're only going to do 50 tests a year, will they still have the 3 strikes policy?
