Close win for Penrith over Moorebank in the Div 2 match today, 9.12 to 6.9.

Tight win for the Rams as well in Div 4, and a big win in the U/18's.

The Jets met Gosford down at Monarch in what was best described as buckets of rain. Still a few key players out but accounted for the Tigers 12.8 to 3.12. Considering half the aquad were in the Bacardi Bar @ Rosehill for a bucks, 12 goals on that massive expanse wasn't a bad return. Some of the new cattle performed well, good structured flowing footy from Nor-West.
Many thanks to Terri Neilsen and Campbelltown AFC for use of the superb ground, and to Deon and the Gosford AFC for making the trip south. Next week sees the Riff-RAAF Cup up for grabs- nice name Greg- at a venue TBA.

        From the pen of Jonty

This is a much more accurate report from Sydney's finest footy journo and commentator.

FIVE goals from tall forward Jake Berry helped the Nor-West Jets to an impressive 56-point victory over the Gosford Tigers in their opening AFL Sydney practice match at Campbelltown?s Monarch Field on Saturday.
Put to the test in soggy conditions and at times driving rain, the Jets gradually took control of the game from the outset, extending their lead at every change to win 12.8 80 to 3.6 24.
After conceding the first four goals of the match to the midway point of the second quarter, Gosford rallied with two late goals to their big full forward, but the 11-point quarter time margin was still 12 at half time.
As the rain increased in the second half, so did Nor-West?s intensity, as the Jets kicked eight goals to one after the break, with four of Berry?s majors coming in the onslaught in a performance that left coach Gary Bull feeling optimistic about the club?s prospects as it aims to back up last season?s Division Two preliminary final appearance.
This week the Jets will travel just down the road to take on arch rivals Penrith in reserves and seniors ? visit NOR-WEST - SportingPulse for match times and information.

        NOR-WEST JETS 2.2 4.4 7.6 12.8 80
        GOSFORD TIGERS 0.3 2.4 3.5 3.6 24
        Jets Goals: J Berry 5, A Lows, J Howe 2, O Butcher, M Gray, J Thomson.
        Jets Best: Team Effort.

I think you either take control from the outset or you take it gradually - What kind of control is it when you gradually take it from the outset?

Mac Uni v Southern Power Friday night

I must say, Roger Sherrin Oval drains well. I played in the hybrid reserves/thirds game at 6.30pm and despite the downpour, the conditions were OK.

We didn't keep score in either game and both clubs got plenty out of it - even in the heavy rain. If anything, we were a bit underdone as it was first trial of the year.

No gossip, injuries or anything else to report.

The 'off-season serial pest' gradually puts me under pressure from the outset.
Fair call Frog, when you read a bit deeper I suppose it could be a little confusing, but what I meant was the Jets started with a small amount of control and increased that level as the match wore on, hence 'extending their lead at every change'.
              I'd better lift my game!

I wrote the post - deleted it - then wrote it again. I thought it was a gem, couldn't let it pass. But yes, understood what you meant. No need to lift your game, steady as she goes is fine.
How about signing up for a Swans report at some stage during the season?

                        Not 'hella lame' this time?

The bloke is a qualified sports journo mate, he'd write a two page spread on a barrier trial.

I think it's great, sure beats the cone of silence that seems to exist around most clubs.

Well, we've got the best sports writer of any club in town, best commentator as well, his match reports are great, as opposed to mine, which are tongue in cheek and mostly dribble, although, I'm told my semi final report v Goannas last year was read at the start of their pre-season as ammunition for the coming season. Was blind drunk when I wrote it!
