    Will "Buckets" Ley: 1978 - 2011

Sad news. MUAFC's dear friend, ultimate clubman and Life Member, Will "Buckets" Ley passed away this morning after losing the battle with his tumour.

He died peacefully in his sleep with lots of support around him.

He was 32. This Thursday would have been his 33rd birthday .

Details of his funeral will be posted at www.muafc.com.au soon followed by more on the life of Buckets.

    RIP buddy.

Very sad news. A familiar face for the Kookas, after seeing the pic posted. Deepest sympathies from everyone at Bensons Lane. I've tried to get in contact with Bully, in case he hasn't heard the tragic news.

      Club legend Ian Wright writes:

Will played for Macquarie Uni from 1997 to 2004. His knock to the head in round 1 of 2004 against Penrith, made him get things checked out properly. He had been having headaches for some time, and it was fortunate that an untimely injury in that game, let to him getting medical treatment earlier than he otherwise would have. Will played 132 games with 93 in first grade.

He played in the 2000 premiership side against Sydney Uni at Sydney Uni, but only spent a short time on the field due to injury. He broke his collarbone in the 1999 Preliminary Final, so he sadly missed out in being part of the 1999 premership team. 1999 was probably the best year of his career, when he shone in the backline. I remember him saying that he was bawling his eyes out in hospital after being taken there for his collarbone injury. It wasn't the pain from the injury, but the fact that he knew he was going to miss playing in a premiership side.

He was a former Committee Member and Club Secretary.

I was pleased to be able to take him out to the last Test Match in Sydney and spend a day with him.

He faced his illness very bravely and remained positive right to the end.

      Regards,
      Ian
