Report laid by the umpire(s)? I'd hope so, as this is the sort of rubbish that you don't want in Sydney football. Surely at least one of them saw it.

Well, if Balmain feels it was definitely a reportable offence and can identify the player concerned, they have the option of citing. It would be in the By-Laws somewhere, there may be a cost and/or time limit to do so though.

It depends on how strongly Balmain feels about it I guess.

Ooh dear, that's terrible news. Watched until quarter time and it was heavy footy out there. Hope whoever got clocked has a speedy recovery, and whoever meted it out gets what he deserves.

Pekay, looks like the Dockers are the team to beat judging by early results in Div 2.

            Any thoughts?

Unless they struggle with injuries with the pensioners in PD and need to call on their reserves later in the season !

But full credit to them. Finally a competive couple of sides. Just needed a balance in there.

They most certainly are. Played a solid four quarter effort. Although we were off our game, they deserve favouritism, got some strong runners, some big rigs, and pretty handy to have a player like Heath James at CHF, not sure if he'll be staying in Div 2 though. Well structured, very fit. We named a strong team and only managed 3 goals to 3QT.
Having said that, we never play well on Sundays, and not on that ground. But, no excuses, they smashed us.

Interesting mate, as SHH said, they might be tested a little later if they're hit by injuries etc in Premier Division, but given that I'd expect you'll be right up there, I was expecting the final result to be pretty tight. Having former AFL players running around in Div 2 helps though......

That said, I'm sure it would be a different story out at Bensons on a blustery Saturday arvo.

Sydney Uni also look strong with good wins over both our sides so far.

Perhaps two teams that were being ignored during pre-season who have both jumped right up.

The strength of Sydney Uni in their third grade shows how much depth they have. If we were a little more switched on in the first term in Round 1, perhaps a different result, but they played our 2nd ground much better than we did (Its probably more suited to St Pauls or Uni No 1 than our main ground, in fact it's 15m shorter at present) We outscored them in Qtrs 2-4 but the result was done in the first term, they slammed on 6 to 0.

We were just outplayed that day, and on the weekend. Good sign was, we played Jesse Cass, who at 15 didn't take a backward step against some massive opponents. Relished the opportunity given to him. He won't be a permanent fixture in either senior team just yet, but will be greater for the experience.

Should get about 8 senior players back for our next game, RAAF footy always hurts us at the start of the year, and we just had our captain and a new recruit named in the ADF team which is always a good wrap for RAAFies considering they are the last team looked at in Defence footy in recent years. (Not in Croc's day though, always got a kick)

Similar experience to us, were able to match them all day with the lead changing pretty consistently until they kicked the first four of the last quarter to scoot away. Bearing in mind that it's their threes, it's a little scary........

Given that you've played them both, it seems fair to say that the Dockers are a step ahead of the rest, at this point anyway.

We've got away games against St.George and Balmain for our next two, which should tell a story.

If nothing else, it will be a good chance to play against two clubs who we traditionally haven't had the chance to come up against.

Not sure how Balmain will travel, given that Parra pushed them at Gipps, whether they were understrength I am unsure. One thing I do know is they are well structured, bloody big and play a smart game plan. Punished us on turnovers, and without looking at last years Prems team, I would imagine with the influx of Senior players they have since the end of 09, that a good number of their reserves had PD experience last year. No 13 (Underwood?) very handy in the middle.
Bigshow on here is their 2s coach, perhaps he can shed some light. Having said all that, we look forward to the return leg at Bensons.

A fair few guys running round in their twos with 2009 PD experience. Good on them. Great to see the progress at Balmain.

Just a note for those who aren't aware that the telecast of last week's Pennant Hills v Campbelltown clash will be screened TONIGHT, THURSDAY, at 6.30pm on Main Event 518, not tomorrow night, due to the Friday night AFL match also being played tonight.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

                              Wow, cannot wait!

I've just canned all previous plans to go out and hit the town on the eve of a 5 day weekend thanks to your update BMR, I would now much rather sit in and listen to a bunch of ECE supporters attempt to remember and mispronounce two sides that will be absolute non-contenders this year!

Awesome! Will definitely be ordering a DVD copy of this match from Digital Sports straight after, have been thinking I need a new over-priced frisbee!
