Eurell coming back through Div 3 after a 3 match ban for striking and gets sent off. True to form.

I understand they have done a lot of work at Picken oval but until that ground gets a picket fence or some sort of barrier between the players and the spectators (who are a downright rabble) then it simply cannot be considered a serious premier division venue for football. Any player who is sent off is obviously in danger as he has to run the gauntlet of spectators only 2 or 3 metres from the boundary.

Not sure what the future plans for this venue are but there is much to be done.

I would have thought for insurance purposes, a fence would be a mandatory item at a football ground.

How long until an umpire is assaulted as he lines up for a boundary throw in?

He said it shouldnt be considered a serious venue for PD and thats fair enough. I may only have ever been involved in Sydney at the lower grades so my opinion is probably mute but given PD is the highest grade here surely we should be playing at venues that represent that and if unavailable measures are in place to minimise alledged spectator involvement.

Sorry I am a bit behind - yes this is confirmed. Alex will be out for the remainder of the season - he is heading off before the conclusion of the year to work overseas in any case. He will be sorely missed.
