    Saturdays Shootout??

Large chance this weekend could be a good old fashion shootout with both Balmain and East Coast having potent forward lines.

East Coast have four goalkickers who have kicked 25+ goals for the year, Vlatko, Doyle, O'Connor and Goodey and Balmain have Davis, Saddington, Fosdike and Head if he plays.

Question is does the best forward line win you the game or the best backline??

Its a combination of strong accurate foward line with a stingy solid backline plus a go foward midfield. Therefore i tend to think Eastcoast have all bases covered

Going on last night with team of the year, no one from East Coast made the back six so there defence mustn't be that good.

I haven't seen the Team Of The Year yet, but surely ECE had a player named in the back half? They had the best defence this year by a long way as per the below final ladder positions. In fact, from memory they have had the lowest score against for the last 3 years running.

        POS TEAM FOR AGA %
        1 East Coast 2174 947 229.6%
        2 Balmain 1726 1264 136.6%
        3 Sydney Uni 2036 1277 159.4%
        4 North Shore 1621 1288 125.9%
        5 Pennant Hills 1600 1347 118.8%

Nope, not one in back six.

It mustn't be picked based of your stats.

Surprised at no Eagle defenders making the top 6 in the team of the year. I haven't seen the team; but Rowan Bilkey would be unlucky to miss out, especially since he polled so well in the Phelan Medal count.

Forecast for Blacktown is fine weather and 30 degrees - not quite as hot as the last grand final at Henson a few years ago but still very warm conditions. You won't be able to blame a slippery ball if you drop any marks....

              Bilkey did make the interchange.

The team of the year however is more about individuals (if that makes sense). Those who stand out in a team. Games are won by teams though and a back six that combine well and get the job done each week, but maybe don't stand out.

I'd take a back six that works together over a back six with one or two stand outs.

And didn't Bilks play a fair bit of midfield this year, defying Father Time in the process?
