    Senior Football Venues

Here is something to keep people busy for a while. I'd like to compile a list of all footy venues used in Sydney to host senior footy (incl U18s). Not sure why, just for interest's sake. And for something to do.

I'll post a few to get things rolling. I'll split them into past/current, and post a few past ones:

    Past
    Bargo Showground (Bargo/Wollondilly)
    Cook Park (St Clair)
    Dukes Oval (Penrith)
    ELS Hall Park (Parramatta)
    Erskineville Oval (Newtown)
Hawkesbury Ag College (Hawkesbury Ag College)
    Heathcote Oval (Heathcote)
    HMAS Nirimba (HMAS Nirimba)
    Jensen Oval (Bankstown)
    Kellyville Country Club (Baulkham Hills)

    There's 10 for a start.

Hawkesbury played there after McGraths Hill, for three or four seasons in the late 80s, before moving to Bensons Lane.

Probably should enquire more with the boss, he would've been around at that time. Colebee is just around the corner from my place, and apparently hasn't changed much surface wise. Boss was banging on before xmas about all the boys heading down there with cars parked around the ground, pulling massive rocks from the surface. Oakville soccer have the run of it now.

Southern Power have played games at:

Waratah Park 4 (Lincoln Oval) - I think Old Sutherland / St Pats may have played here too.
                  Barden Ridge Oval

I remember Clubs playing at the SCG and the Training ground outside the SCG also.
                  Carn the Southern Power.....

I reckon we played at Deerubbin Park too.

The old Showgrounds at Moore Park, now Fox Studios, used to host finals many years ago.

The Showgrounds at Homebush, now being redeveloped into Skoda Stadium, has hosted a few games. Was an interesting layout, with the dirt track around the sideline.
The bike track around the outside would have also been a feature at Hurstville Oval, but it would have been very small inside the bike track.

I'm happy that Waverley Oval will again be having games this year. It was a construction site when I did a match report from there last year, but that's a ground that I've often passed and thought it had great potential as a footy venue.

I don't remember the NCC Hunters playing at Tacoma. I was under the impression they split their home games between Number 1 in Newcastle and the Mount Penang Parklands at Kariong??

Interesting to note in the hard copy version of the Newcastle Herald yesterday that the BDAFL are looking at entering an u23 development team in Premier Division next year, and are playing a number of trial games against Premier Div opposition in the coming weeks starting with the Dockers on March 17
