Just out of interest BatMan, what % of your players would be from interstate?

Do you think the "home away from home" culture is a big factor?

Do you think the "football culture" they bring is an edge of the Sydney boys. I'd imagine the whole junior and amateur scene interstate leaves us for dead. Much like a semi-decent Union player in Sydney goes to Melbourne and carves it up, a relatively average VAFA player is a topliner in Sydney...

I do say ol' chaps, today is a wonderful day for polo! The sun is shining, the scent of freshly cut grass fills the air. And to follow with a balmy evening sipping wine from my 80 year old collection...

Seriously though, our main club values are positive talk, respect and inclusiveness. We are lucky to some great leaders at the club who uphold these values and encourage everyone else to do the same. I'm glad that this is something that is seen by others outside the club.

I'd be guessing, but I'd say roughly 15-20% of our players are originally from NSW. This is a big increase from when I arrived at the club in 07. The 'home away from home' factor is definitely a big influence on our culture. Most of our players are from VIC, SA and Ireland (I think we have about 20 Irish boys playing this weekend). I'm originally from Victoria. There's no doubt the junior & amatuer scene leaves NSW for dead - most guys in Victoria are kicking around an AFL ball from the time they can stand on two feet. It's a religion in Victoria. That said, I think the Premier Div is probably on par with Country football 1st grade. But, there about 30 country leagues in Victoria...

And Benchwarmer - those numbers are a little misleading. Only 3 of the players who 'left' had played more than 2 games - 4 of them hadn't played a game. One of those 3 lives in Camden, one went to play with his best mates in Maroubra. Nothing much anyone can do about that
In every game there is going to be a cross-road, and when you get to that cross-road you either step up, or you step down!

Sad though as they used to be a good bunch in the SFA days with a decent club culture. They should step back to their roots and start again. A magnet for too many dodgy, glory hunting administrators who clear off and leave others try and fix their mess
You are almost correct there Mug Punter, however the problem is that the administrators you're talking about are the ones who stay at Balmain. They have had the same few at the helm. The administrators that leave are the ones who are fed up of trying to fix up the mess, and do not want their name next to the decisions that are made by some.
