    This should warm some hearts...

I see on Facebook that the 'good news success story' of Sydney footy, Blacktown Magic, will have their Div 5 team play on Skoda at 1100 this Sunday in an Elimination Final against UTS.......would've thought some of the more 'established' or even 'higher level' clubs would get preference. Ah well...

Yes, I noticed that. With Premier Div, a Div 1 womens finals and some other great matches on this week, how a Div 5 minor semi is played there is beyond belief. With all respect to Div 5, having Victorian visitors watching a Sydney AFL final will just confirm their thoughts that football north of their border is a joke. Maybe they should have a half time Div 5 wooden spoon contenders match to round of the gala day.

It's OK, there will be no one there, so no harm done!

... but surely Div 5 would be best served as half time entertainment ... provided they could run it right out without a break!!!?

Seriously, a decision like this would be a shock to some people, sadly it is par the course under these "z" graders

For someone who seems to be so concerned with grass roots footy, it's interesting that you can't see the benefit of this game. Two teams filled with players who probably have 90% playing their first season of AFL. Showing that the game is accessible for anyone to play presents far greater gain I would have thought.

As for Victorian visitors judging Sydney AFL Div 5 as a joke...I think you'll find most Victorians would judge our Premier Division as a joke.
In every game there is going to be a cross-road, and when you get to that cross-road you either step up, or you step down!

... as opposed to showcasing say, the u/14 (Blue Mtns v Sth West Tigers) and u/16's (Camden Blues v C'town Swans) Western Sydney Prelim finals?

... I know which one will generate more interest, and do more good for the code ... sorry, there I go again with the "common sense" approach instead of the "self interest" .:..DOH!

If the Victorians are Demons officials, they might break out the cheque book after watching the Div 5 talent!!!

I'm sure that if Sydney Uni had beaten Blacktown on Saturday they would have played UTS at Skoda instead. Or maybe not.

Just in case we need any further proof that the idiots are running the assignment.

As an advertisement for Sydney footy that is an absolute joke. As someone has already said, no one will be there to watch it anyway.

If this is how they expect to win the hearts and minds of the Sydney public then they have a lot to learn.

                Maybe not indeed.

They've picked the lesser semi-final in the lowest division of Sydney senior football as the one to play? Surely they can do better than that? Hell, they could have even picked a better game in Div 5 if need be.......

But I don't think it takes much to work out why this particular game was the one chosen.

*MP I'm sure you mean "The inmates are running the Asylum" (blame spellcheck!)

... and not only that, they get to feature in the prelim. game at Skoda too!

... no, nothing to do with self interest ...

Can someone enlighten me as to why Blacktown have this real or perceived favouritism?

Might have something to do with the large number of AFL employees who play with them. but that's just a guess

But they are a community club Tara, filled with Blacktown locals *

                        * If Blacktown LGA stretches well into the Greater Hills district

Hmm, very interesting. I'm also finding the Footy Record a bit bland too. Maybe it's the journo in me?! Apart from team lists and ladders, it isn't exactly setting my world on fire!

So are the AFL employees playing there to prop up the club (under direction from HO) or are they playing there because they want to have a runaround together.
How many are we talking about, 3 or 4, or the whole squad?

There was actually quiet a good atmosphere at the game on Sunday for the Divvy 5 match. At least 100+ UTS supporters were at the game along with 40-50 Blacktown Magic Supporters and some early arrivals for the Main game. I dare say that was a bigger crowd than most other Sydney AFL matches over the weekend.

I only noticed 1 AFL staff member running around with 13 of the players made up of *Blacktown LGA locals. Where are you getting your info from Pekay?
