Blacktown Magic submitted a video entry in the 2013 Swisse AFL Quality Club of the Year competition

... and they WON!

Blacktown have the Magic - Sydney AFL - SportingPulse


It was beautifully filmed at the best "club" football facility that the AFL has ever paid for in Sydney.

I wonder if they used the AFL's video camera, and if it was filmed, produced, directed and starred AFL staff, on overtime rates!?

Anyway, I'm sure the "struggling" club will find a use for the $5,000 cash (maybe they can invest in parasols for the WAGS who faithfully support them during this unseasonal weather!), $1,000 in product and the "Ultimate Sportsman's Night" ... expect a scrap over the 2 tickets and flights to the Brownlow Presentation night though!

Very funny. But well done to Blacktown. All clubs should aspire to having well paid, fulltime staff working for them instead of having to rely on lousy volunteers.

... knew our club wouldn't win when they sent in a Beta tape with subtitles ... that's the extent of the "state of the art" AV equipment our budget allows ...

Thanks for the positive feedback on our video. You are right - it looks amazing. For the record, it was put together by two of our players with no funding or equipment from the Club. It was filmed on a go pro, with some editing done on a Mac. Amazing what you can do in 2013 hey?
If you have a look at the competition, it is run by Swisse, and the T&C's state that the winner is determined by votes. We pushed this out through our players and their friends & family. The amazing support we received from them was what saw us win.

It's disappointing to see the cynical posts above undermining the win, that a lot of volunteers and players put a lot of time in to.

All the best for the remainder of the year.

However it is a little naughty to refuse the option of being promoted and then complete the season on top with a % of almost 400.

Wow ... you really have the front to defend the fact that you even put an entry into this competition, and then acknowledge you won it because you understood the rules better than everyone else and simply voted more often ... ?

Swisse is a major sponsor of the AFL - the Blacktown club is a contrived entity of the AFL - the club is full of AFL staffers ...

It shouldn't have even been legal within the terms of the competition, but hey, enjoy your spoils and congratulations!


PS: Where do the public get a look at all the other entries? ... must be some pigs amongst them if they didn't think they were good enough to vote for themselves!

Not at all CB, more about an illustration of how out of touch the AFL is at every level in Sydney.

No question they had every right to enter, but sometimes discretion is called for.

... and now that they have won it, they leave themselves open to ridicule ... if you don't think this has a bad smell about it, you don't know the difference between Swisse and rotting Blue Vein ...

There were cynical posts about you getting a Div 5 final at Skoda too.

The cynicism all round regarding your club seems to be justified.
