Penrith played Campbelltown today at Monarch in firsts and reserves. Town got up by 23 points in the ones in a good hitout. Pretty even match throughout but Town punished us in the turnovers. Happy with the result and both teams seemed to get through unscathed. In the two's, a 7 goal final qtr by Penrith saw them win by 10 goals after Town got to within a goal during the third qtr. All played in good spirit.

Hey TimF..........
Most of the better Hills Eagles players, some long standing, are being re-assigned to the NEAFL - what's that about ?
I'm sure it's just bookkeeping entries, but does it mean that they're lost to Premier Division ?Comment

Any one who plays neafl will go out via clearances, this includes top ups, then if dropped or coing back in you will see a lot of movementComment

Hey Chatto, Hey TimF and Hey Student.....
What are the restrictions on NEAFL players playing PD if the NEAFL team has a bye ?
Last season there was just about no instance of NEAFL guys playing 'down' because they could when there was a bye, which is a bit wierd when the toppies play 'up', especially for the Swans Reserves.
As far as I know, the UWS Giants have enough cattle so that they shouldn't need to use toppies, and there's no restriction on the the Giants putting their best 22 on the paddock each week. If I've got it right then the Swans Reserves are still limited and will be using toppies from our comp.Comment

Last year's Baulko NEAFL coach is playing in the centre for the PD team on Sunday. They can obviously move freely between levels if it suits.Comment

To my knowledge no more than 2 can play down from the week prior, but as the season hasn't started yet there's obviously no team to have been dropped down from so to speak. Haven't seen the PD lineup but I suspect Coach Gilmore might run a few fringe NE blokes through to get one more look at them.
Swans Reserves don't tend to use toppies in interstate trips so our PD was protected for this weekend.
Someone told me today that a max of TWO guys from last weeks's NEAFL team can play down in PD the following week. Someone else told me today that FOUR is the max.
And someone else told me today that, seeing as SydUni didn't play last week and their NEAFL team had a bye, that they stacked their PD team with NEAFL players. And that's how come they beat North Shore this week.....I'm just passing on what was told to me.......
Baulko and SydUni would surely be doing it tough by having top level teams but I can see that they can use the rules to help them a bit on some weeks.Comment

I seem to remember that Campbelltown recruited Dean Brogan and Gerard Bennett for this season - does anyone know whether they're involved there ?Comment
-
Gerrard Bennett's played a couple of games, hasn't had a big impact. I don't think Brogan's been seen down that way - he's still assistant coach at GWS, and that's probably taking up too much of his time for him to play.

A couple of movements from the Clearances department have caught my eye:-
- Chris Bolt to Balmain. He was a key player for Balmain in their GF in 2012 and then went to Wests last year. Now he has applied to go back to Balmain. He would give the Tigers some street cred if his clearance was approved.
- Theo Gavuri. Played NEAFL and PD for the Baulko Eagles and was quite handy. Now he has applied for a clearance to Wests. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but i think that he's famous enough to have his picture on the masthead of the national NEAFL website.
- Dave Linsen to Geelong District League. Seems he applied for a clearance from Wests to the Dragons, got knocked back and has now gone for the Geelong option.....perhaps Felix's theory was right after all !
Geelong and District Football League - Campbelltown Blues - Linsen, David - Approved - 2014-06-13
Interestingly, since then he has played 4 games, and the Towners are 3 and 1 since his inclusion, with the close loss to the in form Wests upon his return, and 3 wins on the trot since then. Pretty good considering he hasn't earned a single B&F vote (kicked a lazy 3 on Saturday - must have been loitering in the goal square!) ... they are now just 2 points out of a finals spot and keeping a low profile ... hmmmmm.Comment

Notice Jajoura got 3 weeks for striking (and got off 2 other charges) after being cited. Might know how to dog hit a guy when umps aren't looking, but probably couldn't escape some supporters video camera.

Wow I'm surprised! Was happy to hit an 18 year old with his back turned after the ball was out but seemed to settle down when we put a club legend on him.
You do really wonder how much they are paying him to run round with his glove on collecting cheap touches and putting on dog shots. Good player but absolute @@@@.Comment
