As you may be aware I am actively involved with a charity called Bears Of Hope Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Inc. This morning we launched a new fundraiser Beards Of Hope - it is fairly self-explanatory. Initially we are targeting the AFL Community throughout Sydney and already Nor-West Jets have signed up. It is a fairly easy fundraiser & coincides nicely with the footy season. Perhaps your club would like to register, especially the players that are getting grief from their mums & girlfriends to shave off their beards.
Bears Of Hope is a Sydney based not-for-profit organisation leading the way in providing exceptional care and support for families who experience the loss of their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal loss. The statistics are alarming with many families having to say hello and goodbye to their baby all in the same breath. The effect of miscarriage loss is also still minimized and misunderstood. The loss of a baby, no matter the gestation, is a lifelong impact and one where a mother or father should never feel alone in their grief. We hope that through our bears we can provide comfort to parents during the darkest time of their life; hope that through our Beyond The Bear support we can help towards the healing of their hearts. And hope for the parents that someday they will bring home a healthy baby safe in their arms. We are here for families? right from the very beginning but we need your help to continue our vital support services. We were hoping you would be inspired to join in the action by growing your beard and have it shaved off for auction! Or be willing to supply a suitable prize to be auctioned off at this event held on 20th September 2014. This may include a signed photo or other memorabilia.
Money raised at the event will be used to fund the objectives of our charity which include:

- providing an exclusive Bear of Hope and gift package to families to comfort, support, guide, connect and empower parents during the first few days of their loss and beyond
- ? Providing parent-led support groups facilitated by psychologists
- ? Providing phone, Skype, and email counselling
- ? Holding events such as Mother?s Day, Father?s Day, October 15 & Christmas Picnics
- ? Providing online, private support groups
- ? Establishing, educating and developing a strong rapport with medical staff
