How many Sydney grounds have you played on?

Whilst I was driving the other day towards the Galston Gorge I saw Rofe Park and had a flashback that I once played a junior game there. It got me thinking just how many grounds did I play on over the years. I compiled a list which came to 37 different fields(which I can remember the names of) which I played a proper game on either junior rep or season proper game - not a trial or exhibition game. For nostalgic reasons and to incite debate and ridicule I have listed them below. I want to know is someone out there who has played at 50 Sydney grounds??? The list is only for Sydney venues (or Sydney AFL venues ie. Wollongong) I played on and not umpired or coached. I deliberately did not include interstate because I reckon there would be a navy journeyman who has played on about 100.....so mention it if you have but you don't get the prize. What prize???...I dunno.

Bankstown Oval, Gwawley Oval-Rugby Field, Monarch Oval, Sydney Uni No1,
Beaman park, Heathcote Oval, Moore Park Oval, Mona Park,
Benson's Lane-Cricket field, Henley Park, North Dalton Oval, Tonbridge Oval,
Charles McLaughlan, Henson Oval, North Sydney Oval, Trumper Park,
Drummoyne Oval, Old Illawarra Rd (Bangor)?? Olds Park1, University Oval,
Ern Holmes, Jenson Oval, Olds park2, Village Green,
Ern Holmes - rugby field, Kelso Oval, Picken Oval, Wagener Oval,
Gipps Rd Oval, Lance Hutchinson Oval, Pittwater Oval,
Gore Hill Oval, Lincoln oval/Waratah, Rofe Park,
Gwawley Oval, Little Bay Oval, Rosedale Oval,

PS: the rugby fields are a flashback to junior rep carnivals when due to ground shortages you played on rugby fields and put up 2 point posts. If the ball hit the crossbar it was a goal.

Ive highlight those Ive played coached or umpired at plus the others listed below that I dont think are on your list.

All three venues at Bensons, Greenway Park (hoxton park not Penno), Kokoda(outside holsworthy now no longer there), Heathcote Oval, fairfax reserve (camden), Bargo Showgrounds, St Pauls(sydney Uni), Wrights Reserve, Blacktown no 1 and 2,Birchgrove, Busloops, Bat and Ball and probably a couple others that I cant recall. Also there were a few trials a various locations around Liverpool and liverpool no longer there plus training at Peter Miller. Thats around the 40 mark which surprises the heck out of me.

Great thread Coastal. Some of those grounds were way before my time in Sydney footy; but after a few years in the game you certainly come to know your way around Sydney.

Most have been covered here, from playing juniors in the Hills & District, Hills/Hornsby, Northside comps.

Started my footy on Ashley Brown Oval in Lalor Park. Held Teal Cup games there in the late 80s.

One of my earlier memories playing for Seven Hills was playing the Kangaroos at Whalan.

Won an Under 15s Grand Final at Rofe Park, I do love driving past there.

Played against St Clair in 2006 at Cook Park in St Marys. Was a bloodbath that game.

Acron Oval as Colesy mentioned. Tiny ground. Didn't realise it was used for their senior mob as well, was speaking to an old RAAFie on base and he mentioned that ground. Was bad enough that kids had to use the 2 x 2m sheds, but grown men?

Played on Newcastle No 1 v Hunters, and Adelaide St Oval, back in 18s. And Memorial Oval in Ingleburn.

Played a full day of footy on the SCG for NSW CHS in about 95, twas a great experience, until Christian Fabre ironed me out.

Think I played against Wollongong at Northern Districts oval, Hollymount I think, bac in the early 00s.

Footy Barista, Middle Head Oval.......I'm assuming you're mid 20s? Wasn't a Mosman team when I was running around.

Could list the Rugby League grounds I played on but too many to mention.

Will have to pull the map out, there's plenty I can't recall on the spot. Great thread.

List of all the grounds in Sydney that my travels with South West have taken me. 44 in total and probably may have missed one or two. Theres a few still at my club who could probably add a few more to that list.

How does it go for wind there? I imagine similar scences to Sandringham's ground?

Hey Norris.....I dare you to a face-off, just you and me, to nominate how many grounds in Sydney we have both played on.

                      ...
Oh well, that's it already....NIL ALL draw.
