    TRIALS

Well, we're about to push another aircraft out here so work is quiet. And I'm bored in my early retirement from footy. Might need to strap the boots on!

So how's trials going? Not much info floating around.

I check the Facebook pages that are public access (the Jets went to a closed page after the League leaked some info last year) and see that the Rams played Moorebank on the weekend, with a young Rams player being taken to hosptial due to 'lifted knees while his head was over the ball by a dog' (That'll get Colesy fired up)

Wollongong, although no longer in Sydney, followed up their trouncing of Southern Power by trouncing Tuggeranong in the ACT.

Terrigal and Penno having a hit out at Blacktown, even the Giants couldn't get on BISP at this time of the year, maybe it's the Mayor's Cup influence or whatever nonsense Penno and Wests used to play for.

Holroyd played the Sydney AFL Employees Academy under lights on Friday, not much said about that online.

Penrith play Orange and Goulburn this weekend, that's pretty cool I think. Good initiative. Although, glassings may rise at Pamfas as a result of the influx of country boys. Unless the 10pm plastic cup embargo is in place.

Manly, who will they play? Might set their sights high and knock off Hawthorn I suppose.

The Jets head to Albatross to play the Demons.......only chance the RAAF has of beating the Navy outside of Inter Service.

That's all I got. Feel free to add.

I guess after seeing someone knee someone in the head there would have been a pretty big dust up. Apparently though no one including the young bloke on the ground knew what happened. I was with the Penrith bench and asked what occurred and even they didnt know.

Also it was our physio out there helping and a nurse from our club ensuring he was ok. And PK I saw the comment too, if the rest of the Penrith boys agreed I also would have expected a chorus of approval at the "dog" which there wasnt.

The "Sydney AFL Employees Academy" had a solid win over the Parra Goannas last Thursday night under lights at Gipps, however only 1 Employee took the field unfortunately due to the lack of AFL employees at the club.

The Employees Academy would have got up by 7 or 8 goals however no scores were officially kept. I believe both teams had a few of their starting 22 out, but was a relatively good hit out to begin 2015.

Parra were very accommodating and had some good support down there to watch the game also.

You're right Colesy, no-one from the bench saw what happened so we will leave it at that. Pekays eyes still working well, I didn't see the comment until reading it here, I usually keep a closer eye on our FB page. Though I do know we cop plenty from Nor-West on their private page

All good though. Thanks to Moorebank for their help with the incident, we also had our physio chiming in so medical advice was excellent. Had three end up in hospital last Saturday. Must be footy season.

Got the country cup on this Saturday, with Goulburn playing at 9 AM (Leaving Goulburn about 5:30 AM and heading to the slipper afterwards and Orange at 11 AM. At 1PM we have the girls playing a round robin against UTS and the Hardly Normal Giants. Should be a good day. Nest week off to Monarch to play Town in a 6 quarter hitout with the 19's playing the Blues in the earlier match.

Interesting article on the Div 5 comp. Nor-West currently at $1.80, but will tumble to $1.01 when Pekay announces his unretirement.

Ventured out to Blacktown on Saturday, where North Shore and Pennant Hills played some trials. It's a sign of the growth in player numbers in both clubs that they were each able to field 4 teams for trial games.
Penno were their consistent self, putting a strong side on the park, well-drilled and doing the 1%ers well. North Shore had a new coach and a lot of new players, and haven't got their best combinations yet. The Bombers keep their cards close to their chest with clearances, but they had a lot of new faces - and some of them can play. In the wet & slippery conditions the game never reached any great heights, but Penno came up with the scoring opportunities when they needed them to grind out an 18-point win. Plenty for both teams to work on, but they'd both have to feel reasonably optimistic about the season ahead.
Penno's Div 1 team easily beat North Shore's Div 2. North Shore won the Under 19s comfortably enough, and also won the 3rds/4ths.

Sorry, will now refer to them as the (Hardly any, if any at all of our First Grade actually live in) Blacktown Magic.

Actually the majority do live in the Blacktown Council. We'll be sure to check passports though of players wanting to have a run.
How many Jets come from Norwest Business Park?

Fair attempt at sarcasm, but passports don't contain residential addresses.

And the hyphen between Nor and West differentiates us from the business park. We fixed that back in 2002.
