He's only 5 months old but he's already showing positive signs with regards to ambidexterity, blistering pace and general footy nous. No signs of his old man's thuggery tendencies, which is great.

So what you are saying is that he will join the Rams and hate Essendon.

You better have a spare room at your place, I'll disown him if he joins your mob of grubs.

Having said that, I'll bite my tongue and back you blokes in for Div 2 this year. Even though I'm Blacktown born and bred, I can't back them, their own players wouldn't know the postcode.

But it's a matter of discretion, and respect to Baulko, that the whole horrible story is kept a bit quiet. But your club president would be in a position to know

We do pay players - there are two tiers of payment. I won't say what they are but I would hazard a guess that the total payments for the entire squad for the season probably comes to less than one top line Ainslie or Southport recruit. This is along with scholarships which are theoretically to aid with study expenses. And not everyone studies so those players are ineligible to receive a scholarship.

Also please nobody boycott the finals - we are running the canteen!

This is the most important post that I've read in a long time.
Q1 - are you running the canteen at both Henson and BISP ? We've been to BISP at lunchtime a few times lately to find that there is nothing but a coffee truck
Q2 - will the canteen operate during the NEAFL game, as well as during the PD game ?
Q3 - will there be someone there who knows how to make a simple coffee ? You people might be intellectual giants but none of you seems to know how to add boiling water to a cup with a spoon of instant coffee inside.
Q4 - will you be using the usual meatpie provider ? Your pies are to die for.

...and now, back to less important matters.....

so, if a topline recruit pulls $750 a game then your whole NEAFL squad costs less than that ?? That would be average $35 per game each.
                I don't think so.

It was common knowledge that ECE had a few financial difficulties and they needed a loan with a sound financial plan to get them out of trouble. Hats off to Oscar and all involved for saving a proud club.

The issue is whether an AFL body should have provided the finance. Such an important transaction should have been made public knowledge. It's no different to a council or government being transparent with any of its expenditure. Now your saying all club presidents were made aware of the situation. If this is considered full transparency by most people then personally I don't have a problem with it.

However, if both parties involved have not done anything ethically wrong then there should be no issue with anyone discussing it. Now that it's in the public forum then robust discussion should be encouraged.

I think Ainslie and Southport might pay blokes like Nick Salter and Jack Anthony significantly more than 15k a season!

1 - Yes, we will be running it at Henson and BISP for all of the PD / Div 1 / U19s finals days. It's our turn this year - goes on a rotation across each club every ten years or so

2 - Yes, it will be operating all day

3 - I'm not sure about BISP but I know there is going to be some sort of coffee machine dealy at Henson. I think it might just be pods or a van at BISP this weekend.

4 - Yes, we wouldn't turn our back on Garlo's now when we need them most!

As for what you can expect to be paid as a player on a NEAFL list, I know for certain that one player is on $35k for the season, and he has been in the best for his club all of once this season ... so as I said earlier, $100k will not pay for your 3 best players, and since Baulko Academic Scholarships are not worth the paper they are written on, it's only a guess what their total player payments will be worth this year.

Can't believe that more Prem Division players are not filthy about having their competition hijacked by these mercenaries ... maybe a motivator for some of the amateurs over the coming month ...

It's interesting to see the Baulko player payments getting legs.

For what its worth my comments are

                          1. Most leagues around Australia are compromised when 1 club has a significantly higher financial backing than others- you only need to look at Albury Tigers in the O&M
                          2. The league needs and wants Baulko in the comp. Well done to Oscar and the league for ensuring the club continues (though in reality it was never going to die - it may have gone into receivership and then a new club would have been started, mabye in Div 2 - but there are enough players in that area to ensure there would have been a club)
                          3. Why did the league not put conditions to their loan, particularly around player payments? Idea to keep them going good - execution crap. Its like not being able to make your home loan payments and your parents helping your out but you refusing to cut up the credit cards or change your lifestyle. A loan with obligations - surely is was not that hard.

Looks like the ex-Balmain coach should be on this list doesn't it ?
Top of the list I reckon.
