BDAFL Board Make Changes to 2017 Competition - Black Diamond AFL - SportsTG

Sure, City and Terrigal have dominated the comps up there for some time, but these measures seem a bit extreme.

In the addition to the competition changes recruiting restrictions to be placed on both Newcastle City and Terrigal Avoca as follows:

- The clubs will not be able to transfer any players into the club who have played senior football previously. The only exemption will be those players who are returning to the club having previously played senior football played for the club.

-The clubs will not be able to transfer junior players into the club unless they have either played the past three seasons with their respective Junior club, or have played the majority of their junior football with their respective junior club which will be assessed on the number of junior games played for their respective clubs.

-Any requests outside of the above will need to be forwarded the BDAFL Board for their consideration.

-Significant penalties will be applied for any breaches of these restrictions

-The restrictions will be in force for an initial period of two years, however a review will be held at the conclusion of the 2017 season.

Sure, the measures will be explained to the clubs and players already there, but what about old mate that moves from interstate, lives in Cooks Hill or Merewether and finds the local club can't take him on due to this rule? Or the kid that just wants a kick in the 2s or 3s while at uni....

Given how one sided the comp is, I think the actions are mature and will grow the game. It shows the type of leadership that is lacking in the sydney junior comps.

No less sided than ECE winning 4 of the 5 last premierships they completed in at full strength.
We know that should have been 5 from 5.

I don't know if you should be able to punish clubs for having success. Maybe if they were paying players and they were running in the red, but if the club is well run then it's up to the other clubs to catch up. Seems like they are harming the integrity of the competition by trying to narrow the scores.
