Mate ive been to quite a few gfs over the years. You would be suprised how many show up to lower grades. Obviously not as popular as pd. We had a realy good turn our in 2010 given it was 20 odd years since either club involved were a chance.

Sydney footy used to get good crowds but its nothing like the 70s

True, would be nice if there wasn't 2 weeks of lower grades at ece. why would the sydney afl give those games to sws at rosedale or other teams out west. Just to support them. imagine getting the lower grades all together on 1 weekend. Wonder how much more they are willing to give ece after the debacle of them being so poorly run then the SAFL having to bail them out. Wonder how much more they will get at the expense of other clubs.

ECE wouldn't get anything would they? According to the 2017 By Laws, Penno are running the canteen for the PD finals venues and Randwick have the lower grades.

they're a well run club, and picked up from where Campbelltown dropped off from a talent perspective. Doing particularly well in the lower grades.
But the gap from Div 1 (currently 5th) to Prems is astronomical. Surely it couldn't happen in 2018? Manly and UTS had to be very successful in Div 1 for a sustained period to earn promotion. Nothing against the Cats. It's quite a step up.

I think they would be mad trying to go to prems with only fielding a joint venture div 2 19s team they need to be bringing juniors through and be competitive in the higher grade 19s before they attempt going to prems or they could fall in the same hole as Ctown

But until they do play Prems they won't attract the better players, including U19s, from the area. The first couple of years will be tough but if they focus on developing players and local juniors and ensure they create a positive club environment it will pay off in the long run.

I'll have this week's report up some time today. My flight was delayed coming back from Melbourne last night and I wasn't able to get it finished.

Agree - with Wet Weather rounds, Queens Birthday, Rep game PD just can not have a bye - would totally support Camden being promoted to PD, either with some financial or other support for Sydney AFL or the Giants. A great long term decision, that may face some short term pain.

Forget the financial support as that only leads to the rest of the clubs being pissed off. Look at what everyone thinks about money being put in to East Coast and Sydney Uni. If Syd Uni win the Prems premiership that will be 2 compromised premiers in 2 years.
Just make sure they are doing the right things with coaching, admin, facilities, and recruitment. Maybe get the AFL or Giants to help them with school visits and clinics and promotions and that should help deliver the long term outcomes they are looking for.

So basically give them the assistance that C-Town have been asking for from SAFL the last 15-20 Years from paid Employees, who's job it is to do so. The reality of the situation is this, with Camden, Campbelltown and SWS all within a stone's throw of each other there just isn't enough Quality Juniors coming through to have a competitive Prems or Prems 19's side. Last year Camden's 19's played in Div 1 and won 1 or 2 games. The junior competition in the area is growing but it will be a long long time until their is significant change in the current numbers feeding through from 17's to 19's and senior footy.

In the Zone of these 3 Senior clubs there is currently 4x Under 17's teams(3rd, 4th, 5th and 1 which hasn't won a game all year), 3x Under 15's(2nd, 3rd and 6th), 3x Under 14's(2nd, 4th and 5th), 4x Under 13's teams(1 in Div 1 running last, 3 in Div 2 running 4th, 5th and 6th). So you can safely assume that in the Next 5-6 Years that there will hardly be a massive influx of Premier Division Quality 19's coming through head to Camden once you factor in drop off rates as well as the ones that head to Campbelltown, SWS as well as Wollondilly who will also try to recruit from the area also.

The area definitely needs a Premier Division Presence but the way it is structured now leaves it destined to failure again.

So isn't the answer obvious? 3 weak clubs will not have the resources to create a strong profile and grow the game. But one strong club in that area should. It then gives all clubs, players, and officials the opportunity to create one very strong community organisation that participates in the top levels of AFL and provide pathways and a competitive and enjoyable game day experience. Time to put the old rivalries aside and capitalise on the GWS momentum. Who knows in a few years time there may not be that opportunity?

Just spoke to JL breifly and he said they will 100% be pushing hard to take on that 10th spot in 2018. In the 5min chat he mentioned some very good and out of the box ideas they are running with already or looking into.

He did also say that potentially the Camden club is or does have more depth than some bottom five Prem Div clubs which was an interesting comment.

He also said if they dont take the 10th spot for whatever reason that the club stands risk of going backwards and all the hard work and great culture built over the past 5 years could slow things down or worst case go backwards.

Agree time to move forward and get the 10th spot filled asap with whomever is selected but western sydney would be key.

I'm also hearing at least one of the three clubs won't be around next year due to poor results over the last few years players planning to exit.

I would presume the ground would be booked with the Council. Not ECE
Would they pay St George for OLDs Park ? You keep Bagging ECE unfairly - I think you should worry about your club MINNIBUS
On the weekend at Norths & ECE game, ECE did the BBQ and Canteen with help from Norths players and worked very well for both clubs working together. Was very happy with their Eagle Burger and then the pancakes.
Good game but can't see anyone beating UNSWES or SU
