Does it matter who makes the gf in prems? Surely no one beats uni after that.

Penno have hit form at just the right time of year. For most of the year it looked like they'd miss the five, but they're doing serious damage.
Next week's Prelim should be a cracker. You wouldn't think North Shore would be so flat 2 weeks in a row. But Sydney Uni definately look the team to beat.

I guess it will depend on Uni's "injuries", that Student insists will come to wreck their season ... but if they get to play 7 or so of their NEAFL Listed players and a handful of their NEAFL Rookies in the GF, they will be hard to beat again, and we could well have two tainted SAFL Premierships in two years ... that would be a shame.Comment

Thanks unconfuseme you've managed to confuse me. Wasn't having a dig a St George, just seeking an inside view to their regular team changes week in week out and not just in 2017. Thanks for the commentary though Saviour in all honesty. Another un educated swipe at ECE there unconfuseme, ECE have played in the majority of the last decades Prem div grand finals!! They been taking your clubs spot in the GF have they? BitterComment

You do realize that the listed NEAFL players had played 20 NEAFL games between them this year, and most of those belonged to Matt Rawlinson who won't be eligible for the GF. Irvine, Vella, the Krochmal brothers, Vicic, Sierakowski etc - they are Prem Div players who train with the NEAFL side. They have played four games between them. If we were rolling out Tom Young and Zac O'Brien you would have an argument. Anyway when the NE lists go down to 40 next year we will have the fringe players in a train on squad and they won't be "NEAFL players" so you'll have less to gripe about.

Given you guys got done in the neafl is there anyone else who can come back? im pretty sure north shore will have lonergan, wilson, mantiet back whilst penno will lose cooper and potter.....they do have the form tho penno even before they got potter......very interesting game this weekComment

Good question - according to the by-laws anyone who has played 9 or more NEAFL games won't qualify so that would rule out the three you've mentioned for North Shore. Unless it is 9 regular season games only in which case Manteit would be available.

Is this a different by Law - Subject to By-law 6.18, any player, who is a listed Sydney University NEAFL player (primary or rookie list), must have played a minimum of six (6) home and away games in the current season for his AFL Sydney aligned club to be eligible to compete in the AFL Sydney Premier Division finals. NDS players must have played a minimum of three (3) home and away games in the current season for his AFL Sydney aligned club to be eligible to compete in the AFL Sydney Premier Division finals.Comment

My bad - it is 9 or more h&a NE games, so Manteit (8) would qualify but not Wilson or Loneragan as they played 10. Players also need to have played a minimum of 6 Sydney AFL games to qualify so whilst guys like Austin Lucy and Matt Rawlinson played less than 9, they don't qualify because they didn't play enough Sydney AFL.
If we had won on Saturday any listed player would be eligible to play for Penno or NS in the Prelim irrespective of qualification.
This ties in with the 9 game rule - so if a player has played 8 NEAFL games but only 5 Sydney AFL games they are ineligible.

We are seeing it all in finals once again, the "managing" of lists. Good luck to them (4th div flag for UTS?)
Though it appears that next year it will become less prevalent with the new format, especially for the first grades of clubs (ie: non-premier 1st grade teams will only face up to the team they have played all year, not fly-ins from Prem Div )Comment

I for one would love to see them beat St.George in Division Four.
Wests have Div 5 wrapped up, Eurell bagged 9 on the weekend - handy to have a bloke of his ability playing against beginners!
