Is it wrong for SydneyAFL to want clubs to develop juniors or is it a legitimate strategy to buy everyone's good players, go into @@@@ loads of debt and plunge down through the leagues after winning a flag (Balmain and Campbelltown, plus ECE if Sydney AFL didn't give them 400k)?

Maybe it isn't the best for equalisation but surely it's better for sustainability.

        Great theory....

39 points versus 22 points today.

Pennant hills is a 22 point team amazing and nothing but a massive compliment to them how they have and do achieve that.

As usual saviour “people in glass houses” you may have some juniors but your club is more than happy to get others out of regions, there are plenty of other clubs in your region and others who know full well you guys are more than happy to have a player well outside come to you.

This is a system which needs a lot more work and consultation with all clubs

If any of you think the AFL get it wrong or right or whatever watch #AFL360, and we debate this without consultation.

Seems like a lot of clubs had no real consultation on this process, doesnt seem like a good way to run a business model when not engaging the participants properly.

What's the deal fellas - a mid-year review of a pointless points system or something else?

Haven’t heard that they have a great junior pathway and seem each week to be low on the points.

What is the problem Mac Warrior? Is it onfield or off-field?
With such a high turnover of players, I have often wondered how they managed off-field.

Possibly the points cap could be a check and balance against Sydney Uni dropping NEAFL-listed players down to Prems, and they did use their full 50 points in round 1; but other than that, it's not doing anything to even up the competition. UTS have the highest points usage, and had their full 52 point allocation in one game and 51 in a couple of others - they're the only other team that may have potentially had their team selections affected by the points cap, and they haven't won a game.
Clubs like Pennant Hills, North Shore and East Coast wouldn't even consider points when selecting their team - no team they select is ever going to get anywhere near the cap. But it could possibly be affecting UTS.

I don't see the point of it. It's just an un-necessary complication, and it's not doing anything to help the clubs that need a helping hand.

Does that not highlight even more the need for clubs to build a junior program rather than buying blow ins who chase cash then leave a season or two later?
