    Grounds for Footy

I have been reading about the issues of grounds for playing footy in Sydney. Surely nearly all suburbs have a cricket ground; and they could be used for footy.

In theory yes, I guess the various local councils can't justify the cost of putting in the posts, with a few noteable exceptions

The problem is that, in almost all cases, the winter sport usage is already allocated to either RU, RL or Soccer. Dislodging incumbents is almost impossible. This is especially so in established suburbs where available playing fields of all varieties are in short supply and all are fully utilised.

And despite their words the AFL in NSW does not seem prepared to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to creating (or assisting in the creation of) new grounds
