    Finals Format

    just a quick question...

    with the 18's finals in the second week is the first semi final:

    Penno vs winner Saints & East Coast??

    It's a standard McIntyre Five finals system so the answer is yes! The winner of that game would then go direct to the GF (getting a week off)

    I'm not sure if that is called the 1st or 2nd semi though (I think it might be the 2nd)

      you would hope the sydneyafl website could put on there the actual format, say:

      Sund 29/8/04 -1st semi final - Penno vs winner (St George or East Coast)
      sat 28/8/04 - 2nd Semi - Loser St George & ECE vs winner Redbacks vs Wollongong

        It's the 2nd, but they're playing it on the Saturday before the 1st on the Sunday.
        I prefer to call them major & minor semis rather than 2nd & 1st, it's easier to know which is which and doesn't matter which order you play them.
