    RIP Keith Miller

He was well-known as a cricketer and a war hero, but Keith Miller also had an active involvement in Sydney football.
An excellent Letter to the Editor by football historian Ian Granland in today's Sunday Telegraph. The letters page isn't reproduced online, so no link to post, but the letter is:

Nor has anyone recognised the awarding of the Centenary Medal to Miler in 2000, also for his services to cricket.
I have read that he was a bomber pilot in World War II, but he was a fighter pilot.
And I have read that he played cricket. Yes, but he also played Australian football.
We in NSW can be proud that when Miller moved to Sydney in 1947 after playing for St Kilda and representing the VFL, he played for the now defunct Aussie rules club Sydney Naval and that he was chosen to play for NSW in the All States Carnival in obart in 1947.
Miller's affiliation with AFL didn't stop there.
In 1987, he was elected as the chief commissioner (president) of the NSWAFL, a position he held for only one term before ill-health forced his retirement.
Keith Miller's congenial personality endeared him to those in the Sydney Aussie rules fraternity during his time there.
He will be remembered forever for his commitment to sport - an icon and a good bloke with some great stories.
Thanks Keith. You will never be forgotten.
