You obviously didnt get to many of the Div 1 18's that year. Your mob wouldnt have made the finals let alone the flag.

plenty.i knew most blokes playing for Penno Baulko Norths Saints thru reps,so know the make up of the sides that played.only Penno wouldve threatened us that year and i know the make up of the team i had,we had half of a Vic Country team playing for us,our rover has won 2 BNFs in Gippsland LaTrobe,Rob Murphy, our FF and CHF kicked 90 goals between them(FF Fraser Thomson CHF me)and the fact that Div1 had 16 and Duv2 18 on field,Penno wouldnt have handled the contact we dished out.and also we offered to play them in a "Sydney Playoff" and they refused is another sign.ii know its hindsight but i just know we would not have lost after that grand final.so there.and who wer you playing for

who was in your comp that year Pekay?

This year there was such a gulf in class between the top 6 or 7 teams in the 18's and the rest it was a complete joke.

And to be honest there was a five to six goal difference between St George/Penno and the rest of the other finals teams. That showed up in the results during the finals.

mate,it was a 4 horse race between Wests,us,Penrith,Cronulla the rest were still quite competitive, even Ingleburn.we had a dead set plethora of talent,a few blokes came up from Gippsland to work in stables at Castlereagh, hard at the ball and silky skills.we had a combination of strength and speed that wouldve been hard to match,as Wests found out.that year would have been the best for a joint comp, coz us Penrith and Wests really wouldve proved ourselves.i played 5 years of 18s from 95 to 99 so saw a thousand games in that time, and truly believe that apart from Baulko 97 and Ctown 98(i think thats right) not many teams would worry us.like i said, its all hindsight, but saw enough games of Div1 to know.the worst thing was Big Jon Shineberg won the Leading Goals in Div1 and me in Div2,and he kicked more than me the bastard!!its an old personal joke between he and i.

well things have changed in footy, teams like Wests & Cronulla dont get near the top sides.

Plus Shiners was kicking goals, now he is a back man.

thats what i mean,we were both backmen in reps. we learnt our goal kicking trade in Finley,me and shiner.unfortunately the Jets won the flag, then were promoted to 1s,and got pumped, coz of 25,17 went to seniors.and yes Wests and Sharks get pummelled these days, which is a shame.except for Wests, they can suffer for all i care.their runner tried to knock me out in 1st semi final that year.he was a first grader.and a coward.if youre out there mate, did you get a medal for runners up?!

The Rams had a very good 18's side back in the late 90's, the boys were competitive with any side in Sydney in those days. Hopefully the new Greater Western Power venture proves to be a success and gives talented kids from our area the chance to shine at the highest level. Let's also hope that a few people in power take their blinkers off and give talented kids from out our way a go in the rep squads. There were a couple of kids from back then that were disgracefully overlooked for no more reason than that they played for Penrith.

its a shame but thats how it falls in the west DLH,at Seven Hills Bombers we had a few blokes that shouldve been looked at,had the skills and desire, but just werent given a crack.it seems you have to know the right people in Sydney.or play for Penno!!!!come on fire back you lazy demons-defend yourself!!

                          Pekay,

Good to see you acknowledged the Falcon's Under 18 team of 1997 as a powerhouse (not your exact words, but close enough!) and one of the teams which you could not have beaten.

I love your passion for your club, but I dunno about your claims of beating or smashing, the Div 1 teams of the time. Who did you play your junior footy with?

                            Pekay....

u have no idea son... so u came from Seven Hills Bombers... there is only 1 decent player to come from that club (its not u) and thats the great Sandford Wheeler or his other name Matthew Wheeler (scuse spelling)..... the only other bloke with a slight bit of talent (not u again) was James (thunder thighs) elliot.... finished his career with St George and i think some time with Pennant Hills.

all u talk about is yourself..... pumping your own tyres... you played/play div 2... u were obviously a pretty ordinary footballer!

why dont u send us all your stats like career goals, games, B&F awards, premiership medals, height, playing weight etc.... im sure u can rattle them off pretty quick... you probably have them tattoed on your arse cheek next to the other one which reads "rear entry only"

                            jazzy jeff and the fresh......

aha this bloke seems to know footy...excuse the sarcasm.James Elliot was a decent player in his time but did sweet FA after he left us.the fact you know that he's a Sevo junior intrigues me,and leads me to believe you are from the land of Hamish-Penno.im not pumping up my tyres youre doing it for me,so thanx.its a footy forum mate,so add something thats worth reading.and if you want to see me i play at Bensons,or i can meet you for a kick somewhere if you wish..let me guess-Thornleigh,West Penno, somewhere that requires a silver spoon?back to mums lap, little man.and thanx for making my day a whole lot better.you know where to find me you Americanised puppet.

sorry billy bob, someone had a shot at me(im a fullback,im used to it).the Falcons of 97 were a powerhouse, got some great friends in that team.i played u18s there in 95-96 on and off, then left to start the Jets.(and Gracie was not my best mate)its fair to say that those Falcons would have to be the best 18s team i ever saw(saints in 93or94 were red hot too)but the team i had was not far off, back to forward.i guess its bias on by behalf, like you and your Falcons,so we're all guilty of it at some stage.i suppose i was dirty that they(Penno)didnt want to play us for whatever reason, its like an unanswered question.i reckon Penrith wouldve done well in div1 that year too.
