The local press at Campbelltown reports Robbie Ahmat has been recruited to the Kangas.
Also noted that Balmain announced David Yole as new assistant coach on their website but had removed the report later in the day. Was this an early April Fools joke?strawberryComment

The Yole report is still up on the Tigers site - looks like it's fair dinkum.
Still interested to know who the mystery Wests signing is though?
Here's a few Swans/Magpies that the Prince and I have come up with:
Mark Orchard
Paul Licuria
Nick & Craig Davis
Paul Williams
Ben Wilson
Tony Morwood
Anthony Rocca
Scott Russell
Mark Kinnear
Andrew SchaubleComment

Rod.... Could be the Great Billy Picken? ... socks down and all!!!!
Shearer, interesting Robbie Ahmat... need more than him to make them competitive. Moller and Ahmat in the forward line will be hard to hold.... however they have to get the ball into the forward 50 in the first place! With last years list and the loss of Withers... No Chance!Comment

Wow - I was just joking about Robbie Ahmat! Will be good to have him in the league - bit of classy footballing pedigree never hurts. Might draw a few extra spectators to Monarch too.
Must agree with the P. Rince though - they'll need more than Moller and Ahmat to chalk up more wins than last year. And without Whithers and Fidler they could be pushing it uphill with a toothpick. As you say Shearer, they are a proud club so they will no doubt get through this rough patch, but don't know that pride will help them a huge amount in 2005.
Wests could be tough...Comment

Some early predictions
Yep Wests and the eagles to be a force in 05.
Uni with Luffy and some bloke who I can't spell his surname will be potent. Luffy, Pech, Tempo in the forward line - opposition backlines will need some height.
Penno - any recruits ? middle pack
Balmain - any recruits ? Yole. Middle pack
St George - shearer any recruits ? Middle pack.
Campbelltown - will struggle. have these blokes got a site.
Norths - no doubt will come along with a fe recruits. toward the top as per normal
Gong - middle packComment

Templeton has gone back to Melbourne to play for Chelsea (I think) - won't be playing in Sydney in '05 which leaves Uni a little less threatening, especially up forward.
St George lost a couple from what I hear - Dugmore (cricket in England), Demir and Featherstone (Labrador in QAFL with R. Talbot from Penno), Lonergen (travelling OS), Raper (retired).
Not sure if Penno's picked anyone up. I've heard Alastair Richardson (from 2000 premiership side) is back in town - but they lost R. Talbot and Tim Nunan from their 2004 side.
Yoley might get a game at Balmain - heard a couple of Tiges went over to Wests, not certain of that though.Comment

Tempo, big loss, replaced by luff I spose.
Gee penno loose a bit without nunan, Talbot - is he the big backman.
St G, the travelling hillbilles by the sound of itComment

Saints Losses
Dec Donohue (Nthn Bullants - VFL)
Andy Bawden (Central Districts - SANFL)
Todd Featherstone & Shane Demir(Labrador -QAFL)
Mick Talbot - (Penno)
Fitzy - (Retired)
Peter Dugmore - (Cricket in UK)
Brett Myers & Freddo Lonergan - O/S
Every year we seem to lose players but luckily we have some very good juniors from our 18's premiership side that can fill some holes.
Also pick up a few in drabs and drabs from here and there that are very handy footballers.Comment

well shearer thats a lot of movement at St G town. Why ?
They got to grand final last year
You got your under 18s through in the GF, so looks like a few of your young chaps might get a run.Comment
