    Henson Park Blockbuster

The Sydney AFL have booked Henson Park for Saturday 16th April for their first blockbuster of the season.
There'll be 5 games played, starting with an U16s trial at 11am, going through to the senior match of the round starting under lights at 7pm. No decision yet on which teams will be involved, although I suspect it'll probably be UNSW-ES v Pennant Hills. No admission fee will be charged, but the NSWAFL are hoping to raise $15,000 on the night for Chris Riley's Aceh orphanage project.
Henson Park turned out to be a great venue for the finals last year, and the Sydney AFL are to be congratulated for stepping up their use of the ground this year with the Saturday night blockbusters. Hope to see some RWO people there.

Sounds tremendous. Will there be any advertising that you know of? Would be good to get the word out there. I'd imagine there are plenty of Swans supporters in that part of town who might get down for a bo-peep. Swans are playing on the Sun so won't clash which is good. Maybe NSWAFL could advertise it at the Hawthorn game in Rd 1??

Heard about this one a few days ago (I heard that the two teams involved are different to the ones you mention but I'll bite my tongue on that one until they are announced).

Should be great. It's expensive changing the ground to and from League for the Jets but do it say 3 maybe 4 times a year and it shouldn't be too bad.

        Blockbuster at Henson Park

The two teams (as stated in the AFL Record-about time those croanies in melbourne realise that there is an afl competition in Sydney) are North Shore v Western Suburbs.

Cmon Sydney people. Get out and support the league in numbers

I read somewhere late last year the Jets RL were no longer. Is Henson hosting RL or RU games for certain this year??

I've noticed that they are keeping the rules posts up during the Jet's games and they take the RL posts down for the AFL.

Is this a Redback or Rams trial game?
              - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

After Newtown were ejected from the NSWRL in 1983, they continued as a club in the lower grades until entering a side in the Metropolitan Cup (now Jim Beam Cup) in 1991 where they had success and in 2000 entered the First Division (now Premier League) which was big enough news to make it to SBS World Sports back then!

Their current head coach is Colin Murphy, a Newtown man through and through.

I've heard that both UNSW-ES's 2nd Division sides are playing Sydney Uni Blues 11am and Manly Warringah at 1pm - not sure after that, but would assume that UNSW-ES are playing the main game.

Whoops - the game I'm talking about is on the 30th of April. Should have read the dates more closely (just excited about the comp starting this weekend, and running onto the field in my first game!)

Also Sundays game between St George & UNSW has been transferred to Henson Park & will be covered by Fox Footy.

All grades at normal time & should be a very good opening match.
