Greater West Power debut

After 12 months in the making, this Saturday sees the debut of the Greater West Power into Sydney under 18's football. I am proud to say that it was a lot of hard work but in the end (even though we are fielding a team of only 17 players) it was all worth while.
Back on the 30th March, we had our first AGM of which a new board was elected.
Positions filled were as follows

Secretary: Scott Duffus
Admin: Roger Cheesman
Junior Dev.: John Diamond
Football Ops: Gary Merryful
Chairman: Ben Weatherhead

So it comes down to Round 1 v Parramatta at Dukes Oval from 10 am. Hope to see you there

Congratulations to Greater West Power on a 1st up win, taking out their game by 8 points against Holroyd-Parramatta.
Leading at every change, the Power got out to a 20-point win midway through the last term; but 3 goals in less than 2 minutes to the Goannas made the game a thriller, and a late goal wrapped up the points.
Had a very enjoyable morning at Dukes Oval, and if the Power can maintain that intensity they showed today every week they'll do very well. I took a few pics, I won't have time to put them up before going out to Henson Park this afternoon; but I'll put some up in the next couple of days after I've sorted through them.

Thought this would be a better place to post this instead of making a new thread, I heard pretty much the same from a few of the boys over the weekend, and now this:

"Under 18's were starting the first round of the new competition against Greater Western Power at Greygums Oval at 2 p.m. on Saturday. They arrived to find they were playing 18 per side aussie rules on an auskick sized oval. This resulted in a very physical game with not much space to manoeuvre in. Added to this was some very dodgy umpiring and a Power side that was taking full advantage of the one sided decision. The end result was never in question with the Tigers winning by over 80 points, but there wasn't much to celebrate after the tactics that the Power had employed. "

I know everyone always thinks they get the roughend of the stick but what's the deal guys?

Auskick sized?you sure you dont mean Dukes at Emu Plains-picket fence,pavillion? anyway Adnar,this is the nature of most areas of Sydney Footy, and whats the problem?your team obviously overcame a few things that were against them,if thats the first "dodgy" umpiring you have seen in this fine town-GET OUT SOME MORE!!!all the good umps go to Prems,there has always been a big shortage of white/orange/fluoro maggots in the Harbour City.

i dont doubt it for a second(the umpiring)but like i said its nothing new..did you come out with the 4th grade to Bensons last week Adnar?

I didn't this week, as I have a couple of weeks with a knee, and upon my return will be concentrating on playing with the 2s and pushing for a spot in the team.

a shame you didnt come out,despite the score it was pretty physical,the Balmain midfield was red hot(and i know why)and that Coles fella grabbed everything outta the clouds at halfback.dont write off Div2 as crap,there's still some good footballers going around, they're just playing at the clubs/in the grades they want to.

Colesey is amazing and could play in any grade he wanted.

I don't think Div2 is crap at all, especialy norwest etc, there is some pretty great talent going around and it is (at times) very professional.

For me, I am 18 and I think I need to strive to play the best level that I can instead of maybe getting a bit comfortable where I am.

Reason we played the game on a small field is that because Greygums oval is no longer used for senior football, we had to use the smaller field
