    Are ECE the real deal?

ECE were tipped by many including myself as top 2 contenders. They are reported to have recruited well and trialled good including a good game against a team from the ACTAFL I am told. To-date their first five rounds are as follows:
Won vs Balmain by 65 points
    Bye
Won vs Campbelltown by 119 points.
Lost vs Wolllongong by 22 points.
Won vs St George by 3 points.
These games were highlighted with inaccurate kicking for goal and missed opportunities. They were all against teams not really tipped to feature in the finals this year. Other teams are beating these sides by much larger margins. This week they play Pennant Hills which are undefeated and in form. Will they hit their straps in the coming weeks as they play the fancied sides?? Are they certainties to play in September?? Are they genuine contenders or just pretenders??

You never win premierships in April or May so it is probably best that they are not in peak form right now ... it takes time for combinations to gell.

I am sure that coming matches against Penno & Wests will be litmus tests but I am sure they will not be totally disheartened if they lose - how many teams go through a season undefeated anyway?

I am sure their goal is to play finals footy (which the club hasn't done for some time) ... and then see what transpires from there.

Who knows what would happen if the frontrunners suffer a series of injuries to key players???
See me run a marathon again as a leprechaun?

Are you playing football for parramatta this year? They look to be struggling this year. What has happened over there?

Maybe the Eagles haven't quite started as they would have wanted to, but it's early days yet. And they've only lost 1 game, so they're right up there. With so many new players coming from diverse sources, it's not surprising it's taking a few weeks for them to realise their potential - but they're still winning games.
I haven't made it to an Eagles game yet this season and they're yet to appear in a RWO featured picture/article match - this Saturday will be the first, and looking through the draw for the next few weeks and tentatively looking at possible upcoming games there's a good chance the Eagles could be RWO match of the round for the next 3 weeks (they've got 2 Henson Park night blockbusters). Those games could be critical to deciding how far they go this season.

Goannas just oing through a rough spot at the moment with injuries & suspensions. I am sure they will bounce back to be a force in 2nd half of the year. I have been busy training for the Sydney Half Marathon which is on May 22 ... I will be making a return to Sydney footy after I satisfy that goal.

Is that score correct on Sydneyafl.com.au???

            ECE beaten by 96 points!!

I tipped against them but didnt think it would be that much.

I wasn't able to make it to Henson Park on Saturday night, but I was surprised when I got the scores from that game. I was expecting a closer contest. The Eagles now find themselves only just hanging on to a spot in the 4 by a very slim percentage break over 3 other teams.
I did make it to North Shore v Campbelltown on Saturday afternoon, so there'll be some pics from that in this week's article.
I had a frantic social weekend with some very late nights (yes, contrary to some beliefs I do actually have a life lol), and didn't get home last night till after midnight; and was just too buggered to stay up & write & edit this week's article. I'll get it up tonight after work - apologies for the delay.

Was all over after the 8 goal to nill first quarter. Was expecting a closer contest than this one. The Penno Wests Round 9 game should now sort out Premiership favouritism.

Did the eagles have many players out? Wests are a very good outfit.
