Due to the fact i'm pretty busy this week & the fact the BDAFL website had a preview ths week, this preview is copied from that site. www.bdafl.com.au
-------------------------------------
Fourth spot will be up for grabs when Newcastle City and Nelson Bay do battle at Dick Burwell Oval in the Black Diamond Cup match of the day on Saturday.
In other matches, Cardiff are at home to Wyong Lakes, Warners Bay host Killarney Vale and Terrigal Avoca face near neighbours Gosford.
All eyes however will be on Nelson Bay are they look to continue their good form of late. Coach Steve Nixon has them playing a good brand of football and will be buoyed from their good win over City in the first round. Defender Owen Geddes has been in good form of late for the Marlins along with Kris Saunders and Shane Ridgeway. The availability of young gun Craig Bird could also impact on the match.
Newcastle City after a slow start has been playing better in recent weeks without getting the results however they know a win on Saturday will go a long way to them getting a spot in the finals. Their cause was not helped last weekend when on baller broke his finger representing the BDAFL last weekend. He will be absent for up to 6 weeks and in his absence City will need Matthew Enright, Brendan McGrath and Luke Rawnsley to continue their good form. An area where the Blues could have an advantage is in the ruck where Justin Kelly & Dave Woerner have started to run into some good form.
Warners Bay know that a win on Saturday against form side Killarney Vale will put them back in the running for a finals berth. Following a confidence boosting win over Gosford, coach Andrew Larkin will be looking for the Bulldogs to put their best foot forward against the bombers, who are coming of a last round victory over Terrigal Avoca. Scott Bartlem has been a strong performer all year for the bulldogs whilst Blake Brunckhurst has been a tower of strength in the goal square.
The Maneela Park Cardiff will be looking to improve on their position at the top of the BDAFL table and should have too many guns for the winless Wyong Lakes. With a strong representation in the BDAFL side the Hawks have been performing well all year.
