    Half year predictions?

We are at the halfway stage of the season, anyone willing to give their top 4 predictions in all grades?

Also anyone willing to give "mid-season" report of the various clubs??

    eg Penno A+; Wests A+; ...; East Coast B; Wollongong B+; Campbelltown C-

Who will win the rising star award?

Who have been the big improvers?

Will Sydney defeat Riverina? Will NSW beat Qld?

Who will win the Phelan? Snow?

What about the performance of the Sydney AFL administration this year? Have they handled the u/18 comp issue well?

Is the gap between the "ugly" swans & Sydney AFL narrowing as a spectacle?

One thing I reckon has improved is the quality of the Fox Footy show - well done to teh Digital Sports boys who seem to get better at it each year.

    Re: Half year predictions?

Rafters im sure you would agree that both wests and penno shall both make the finals, and either East Coast Eagles, North Shore, UNSW and even throw wollongong into the mix could all make the top 4.
Campbeltown shall get the spoon after losing on the weekend.
    Gambale for Phelan.

It will be a good effort for Gambers to win the Phelan if he gets rubbed out after th weekend. I beleive he was reported for an intentional trip right on half time.

It would take something amazing for Penno or Wests to miss out on the top 2. Can't see that happening, although they could lose a couple of games in the 2nd half of the H&A season.
I'll tip North Shore to come 3rd. 4th will be tricky - UNSW-ES and East Coast are the main contenders, and the Dogs winning by a kick last weekend could be the result that gets them in. Wollongong and St George are both 2 games plus percentage out of the 4 and are up against it - UNSW-ES were in a similar position in 2003 and came back to make the finals then win the comp, but that was exceptional.
The Phelan Medal's a tough one to tip at this stage, but I'll tip Marty Brewster from Wests - the other big contender would be Barnaby Howarth.
The Rising Star's an even tougher one to tip. There's a couple of good young players I've noticed who haven't been nominated yet; but of the ones that have Michael Toussis from Wollongong would be my tip.
Leading goalkicker won't be easy to pick - Laine Spencer looks like he'll be out for a while, Brad Lloyde has hung up the boots and is moving to Melbourne while Templeton and Seebeck aren't always able to play. Brad Abbott from UNSW-ES has hit a purple patch in front of the big sticks; but with the leader on 26 all it takes is anyone to kick a huge bag and they're in calculations.

And totally agree with Rafters on the Digital Sports/Fox Footy coverage. They're doing a fantastic job and keep getting better.

Damien Bowles has to be up there for the rising star award.

Is this a trick question, 6 rounds that meant nothing, only 8 weeks to decide a top 4 out of 13 teams?

Is the gap between the "ugly" swans & Sydney AFL narrowing as a spectacle?
No, Sydney footy is still light years ahead of the ****e the Swans dish up each week.

One thing I reckon has improved is the quality of the Fox Footy show - well done to teh Digital Sports boys who seem to get better at it each year. - I agree wholeheartedly, well done.

                  As in Justin Barrett?
                  - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Didnt Brad Lloyde play on the weekend? What is the reason for him hanging up the boots?

rising star: would be hard to not pick damien bowles, kids is fit, plays hard, and well in a team which is really struggling and holds his own against most. is a great tagger and can run all game. really have to question selectors of the rams program that is for sure, this kid should be in there without a doubt.

dark horse for me would be Ben Rogers from East Coast.

as for filling the top four, i would say the pennant hill and wests have top two sorted followed by a east coast and north shore.

luffy's coaching record speaks for itself and i dont think the players will lift for him in the second half of the season.

no it aint but he has played quite well this season and have watched his game for a number of years,

and well ben rogers was nominated too for one week and i have decent raps on him too,

both are different players these two, but yes most who watch the game and know damien would know the kids plays good hard football and puts in for four quarters.

                          it is only my selections.
