Maybe you didn't get torrential rain in winter, like Sydney used to get.
Ever visited the NW coast of Tasmania in the winter? One game we had a puddle in front of the goal that would stop the ball dead. Saved a number of goals

      No. not silly!!!

We used to get that too. 20 10YO kids in one huge puddle trying to kick a ball. Hilarious stuff.

Right, maybe I should have read the initial post more carefully rather than assume the same system as the NRL.

Back on topic: two points for each team not having a bye in washed out rounds seems the very least that should happen.

Sydney is mostly has clay based soils meaning heavy rain dosent drain away easily. People from Perth and Adelaide have told me they never heard of a game cancellation due to the condition of the ground until they came to Sydney.

What a joke that extra game is. Surely the affected teams will protest. Is that a possibility in the constitution of the league???

It's all being appealed and worked through on Thurs night. Terrible time for it given the games are this weekend - 1v2 is on Sat and 3v4 is on Sun...

I'm not sure how all this would be fair on Penrith either who have had a week and a half to prepare for a final against Manly only for the possibility that they are given a new opponent just 48 hours out.

Too true, there's only one winner out of this farce - and it's not UTS, Manly, Penrith or the NSW AFL.

The end result is that the league has rejected an appeal by Manly. It allows Sydney Uni to receive the points from the extra H&A game they played, and doesn't allow any points to be distributed for the washout games and/or byes.

The NSW AFL's credibility as a professional (yes they get paid for running the game here) sporting organisation is G.A.W.N.

Nor is it the Sharks who made a kerfuffle over the issue at the time and missed out on the finals by a game. Although the Sharks and Penrith played the same number of games, the draw for the missed round favoured them to win and the Rams to lose.
