    New Clubs last five years

Has anyone got a tally of number of clubs in country NSW?

New clubs off the top of my head -

Looking over the Tamworth AFL, there's been Muswellbrook, Narrabri, Inverell, Gunnedah and next year Moree... all since 2000

Murwillumbah and Nimbin in the Summerland AFL -

    Mudgee in the CWAFL

    Goulburn in Canberra Districts?

How does it balance out with the clubs folded tally?

In my neck of the woods since 2000 there has been the (re)creation of the Lake Macquarie club (now known as the Crows) there has also been the formation of the Port Stephens & Eastlakes JAFC's.
Singleton, who were booted from the comp in 2000 when the BDAFL started look like joining the League in the Under 18's next year.
West Newcastle & Wallsend were forced to merge in 2000 when the BDAFL began and subsequently folded at the end of the 2002 season.

      What exactly got Singleton booted?

      Logistics or politics or both?

In the Coreen and District league (Southern Riverina) alone, there has been many changes in the past few years, with more to come.

        * Coreen and Daysdale merged to form Coreen-Daysdale United in 1996
        * Murray Magpies (Albury) were formed in 1999
        * Hopefield-Buraja went into recess before the 2003 season
        * Oaklands and Urana merged to form Billabong Crows in 2005, and
        * Rand has merged with Hume league club Walbundrie to form the Rand-Walbundrie Tigers for 2006.

Stay tuned because these changes could double over coming months.

I guess you could say both. The original BDAFL board was highly Central Coast Centric and the CC clubs saw it as too far to drive, therefore the club were not allowed in.
They tried for entry again in 2002-2003(?exact time) and were given a list of demands that were unachievable.
The current BDAFL board is much more footy focused (better!!) and have seen Singleton's rapidly developing junior base (culminating in a PF spot for their 16's in '04 followed by a big win this year) and have been in meetings to enable their entry in '06.
Hopefully this will go ahead as the "dominance" of RL in the Valley is diminishing and the Singleton Roosters are becoming a very big force.

            Interesting to know about Singleton...

How far is it further up to Muswellbrook?

In the Tamworth league Inverell to Muswellbrook is already a long haul, and if Moree join next year it'll be even longer for M-brook.

Didn't Muswellbrook use to be in the Newcastle league too? Would it be feasible for them to change back?

I think (haven't been up that way for quite a bit) that Muswellbrook is another 30-45 minutes up the road.

Yes Muswellbrook was once in the NAFL (pre BDAFL) but pulled out due to lack of numbers. Given that the Tamworth League is a single grade comp as opposed to the BDAFL's 3 grades, i'd guess that it would be highly unlikely they joined, considering they would have to trek as far as Woy Woy for their away matches
