        The way I read it, he's only on contract until the end of 2007: "Leo Barry has extended his contract for a further two seasons"? Or does the "extension" mean he had already had a contract for one year, and now an extra two taking him to the end of 2008?

                                        If you were a player's agent you'd be gagging to get your client into the list at the end of that article. Could be worth a pretty penny to you.

                                        It doesn't involve the player directly implying 'give me more cash/a longer contract or I'll walk' , which would draw accusations of greedy disloyalty; and the list is long enough to not bring particular suspicion upon you. But it just sticks their name out for all the world to see, reinforcing that if the club won't meet your client's terms, there are other clubs that will. Add that to a gentle reminder that the club can trade a contracted player for full market value, but they can do nothing to stop an uncontracted player walking for nix-- and you're pretty close to sealing the deal.

                                        Coincidence that the article was published in the hot period for player contract negotiations? I think not.
