2005/2006 back to back Time Capsule..

Ok here is the thread that we will bring up next year when we..

    A) Fail to make the finals.
    B) Get Kicked out of the finals.
    C) Win the Premiership.

Select your choice here and we will see who had faith in the team, who had a little to much faith in the team and who had no faith at all.

I'll be the first to select C.
Just got similar feelings of Adelaide 97/98. Buchanan, Davis, LRT and Ablett to star next year.

    Should have been a Poll.

Most likely scenario for the Swans in 2006: Elimination in the Finals. Back to back is possible but with 15 other sides the chances are against it.

Ok, ok, that's a cop out, so in which week will we be eliminated? Preliminary final, we play away and come up against a better side that goes on to win the premiership.

          C. I know this team, with their determination, I think there will be a very strong motivation to go back-to-back to prove 2005 wasn't a one-off.

With a virtually unchanged squad, I reckon we have the talent to do it, too.

I choose c. But if we are eliminated in the PF then I would want that team to win, at least then it was the premiers that knocked us out of the finals and we can always speculate..."If we had beaten,..... we would have won the GF"

              C. If we get off to a good start in the season which is very possible. Two home finals so I can relax this time. They have already proved they can do it the hard way. All the above on the proviso that they don't have a premiership hangover(which I am sure they won't) and injuries don't cripple them.

I am still floating somewhere up there in those clouds and I am not coming down just yet with a feeling like that, Yes we can win it again next year

I'd put the likelihood in the reverse order. We have as much chance as any team of the premiership next year - and know what it takes to achieve it. They'll be keen not to have to do it the hard way so I think they'll be aiming for top 2.

We may get knocked out of the finals. It's a hard to win and win until you have the premiership. But I expect the Swans to go down fighting if they go down at all.

Not make the finals? It's possible, too. The whole comp is pretty even. But Port supporters should be really distressed with the way they fell apart after their premiership. I don't think the Swans will do that - and will be keen on showing that this year was not a fluke. So I think this is by far the least likely option.

                      I'm with Thunder Shaker.

                      (B) - We will finish fourth (or thereabouts). Lose away to the top team, win at home and then fall short in the prelim, probably in Adelaide or Perth.

A lot of things went our way this year, esp wrt injuries. If we have another lucky year, or if some of the inconsistent players really play well, then we may well challenge again!!! I daresay we have another 2, maybe 3 years left in our window of opportunity to really be a threat, fingers crossed we pull another 1 or 2 flags out of the bag in that time. For all their dominance from 1999-2001, Essendon only won one flag.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Back-to-back with a lazy minor Premiership and Coleman medal on the way.

yeah i wouldnt mind a season similar to ports of 2003.

loose the first couple playing ordinary then when 18 of the last 20 games to finish top.

but in 2006 no travel in the finals except for the mcg where we only have to repeat it from last year.

                            cant wait.
