The majority of sports have player names on the jumpers/guernseys

should we have it in AFL? i personally wouldnt mind seeing it and i suppose the best opportunity to trial it would be the wizard cup

I have no logical reason why, but for some reason I don't like the idea. Usually, I'm not one to fear change, but I just don't think an Aussie Rules jumper would look right with the names.

That said, I imagine it will happen one day.

I don't think it's really necessary in AFL because the players wear the same number week in week out compared to say league or union where the number represents the position, so having the name there helps to identify the player, whereas with AFL the number is sufficient.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

try sticking some of those long names on the back giansiracusa...
he might have to forgo a number.

With all these numbers being retired how about a algebra letters start to be used......player AC or a big gamma on the back...we might run out soon.

It may help the commentators, esp. with all our lookalikes.

It would also help with opposition players, but then again, they'd have to be big to be seen from the stands, when play is on the other side of the field.

No names...putting names on makes it too easy for bandwagonners to sound like they know what they are talking about

Good luck putting "Roberts-Thomson" in big letters on his back.

Might help the Abletts and Matthews of this world. Altho Mark Bolton and Luke Ball would probably still be beneficiaries.

It's been trialled before. It didn't work. No.
