    The Kangaroos foray into Sydney...

... is there anyone here who got the brochures they sent out to Swans members? Do you remember what they said?

I'd still like to know how they got Sydney members' contact details.

I didn't get anything sent to me, but did get approached leaving the ground after a game v the Roos.

Could it have been through Ticketek - they ask for your details when bokking tickets, so just get the people that bought tickets for a Swans v Roos game...of course I could be totally off the mark too...

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I'm correct in thinking that they did send things to Swans members, though?

I received some propaganda, as Mike said, it was probably lifted from the Ticketek database. I hadn't given out any other details elsewhere.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

It was given to them from Ticketek because I wrote to the North Melbourne club and was very stinging in my remarks - received a very rude reply - which I put down to the arrogance of the club and the person in charge at the time.
Ticketek should not have that right.
          Love those Swans

Cheers - I vaguely recall there was a somewhat stinging reference to 'supporting a real team' or something like that... can anyone remember what it was?

I got handed the propaganda at the game. They were presenting it as Swans memberships - when you opened it it was Roos stuff.

Must admit that "Boo a Roo" game is one of my all time favourites. Brilliant piece of marketing. Carey's behaviour at that game was an all time low for him and it was great to watch us kick a#se in the 2nd half and hand them a spanking.

It's a real shame because IMO they could have really made it work if they (1) commited to the market, and (2) targeted potential newcomers and converts rather than existing Swans supporters!

                    I HATE the Kangas.

More than Collingwood, Carlton, Rich, Ess, WC, everybody.

                    I HATE them.

Where does ticketek get off sending out those details? Surely that's a breach of the Privacy Act? Selling that database without your express permission is a breach. And not a good use of the CBF, either, dare I add.

Did I mention that I HATE the Roos? Well I do. And not just 1996, either.

It probably would be a breach if it happened now, but that legislation wasn't in place at the time.

There are ways to get around it - ie by getting people to tick a box stating they are happy for their information to be passed onto others for other purposes - but I think that nowadays people have to make a positive election that their info can be used this way.

yeah...most things used to be opting out of giving your personal info, now most of them are opt in instead

Of course you're right. I just get really shirty about the whole database/telemarketing thing.
