    Penny spent

    Sorry couldn't help myself.

Sad news for a young fella but reading the Saints reaction seems that there was more to this than a bad injury. That makes two youngish defenders they've lost in the last few months who seem to have just lost the "will to play". Strange stuff - don't think it means the Saints are collapsing, but it would make you uneasy if you were a supporter.

You would think he'd hang around getting the free medical treatment until his knee was fixed wouldn't you. Unless he still gets that anyway?

Sad, How many players fail to make it past their mid 20's in the AFL due to chronic injuries?

If, as Thomas said, it's not just a medical thing, I'd be having a quiet word with him. After all, others have made the transition from Saints to Swans...
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

In that article on Steve Febey in the Good Weekend a few weeks back they mention that they get medical coverage for either 1 or 2 years post-retirement - I think it was 1?

They are trying to improve this tho - rightly so as many of these injuries must arise much later than that.
