It was a pathetic article, treating an internet poll as if it were in any way valid.

No,anyone who calls League' Rugby' should be castrated!!!!!

'Rugby'is Rugby Union.League is Rugby League!!!

Rugby League was formed as a breakaway competition from Union in England many moons ago.

League is a far superior game to Union, its much more exciting, much more faster and much more tougher!

Union is a game for nerds, computer geeks, people who enjoying watching grass grow and insomniacs.

Now for the our Victorian,South Australian,Western Australian,Tasmanian and NT friends,Mr Undertaker has taught you a fine education here!

      Class dismissed!
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!

I always thought that it was...

League - a game for men with no necks who can count to 5 and it is very stop start.

Union - a more flowing/much faster game for men with brains.

Perhaps the men who play Union may have brains considering their occupations and backgrounds but if you think that Union is more more flowing and much faster than you must enjoy watching paint dry too,goswannie14?!!

Well, I'd have to say I agree with goswannie too.

Growing up in a non-rugby state, I can profess some neutrality and to me, league is incredibly stop-start and one-dimensional. Rugby union has its flaws (penalties and obscure rules), but I quite enjoy watching it.

That's where I'm coming from too, and because I don't drink, the alcohol doesn't make league look any better.

It's all what you grow up with.

I grew up supporting League but then became a Swans and AFL fan through the Edelsten years.(I think it had something to with pink helicopters and cute girls but I digress)

League can be fantastic to watch. The football, aesthetically speaking, has never been better this year. We have a side in the Wests Tigers that won the premiership on a game plan based on youthful exuberance and all out attack. As a result, League has had record crowds and Television ratings.

Again it comes down to what you grow up with and what you understand about the intricacies of the game. Its the same with my League mates. I try to educate them about how wonderful AFL can be. Most will support the Swans in their endeavours but sadly they will never become AFL fans. Hopefully we can capture their kids hearts and make it okay to like both League and AFL

                  Both sports have their merits.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I agree with what you are saying, but I just couldn't allow Undertakers earlier post go unchallenged

Why bother, we know its afl.
Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

Is AFL a sport or an association/league/organisation!?! I alway thought the sport was called 'Australian/Aussie Rules (Football)'.

Does it not bug any of you that the sport always gets called after the league?

Yes it does, but in Sydney I'm afraid it will remain that way. My nephew and all his mates refer to Rules as 'AFL' even if they're talking about the muck-around game they play at lunch. I correct him whenever I can, but it doesn't work!

It is much better thhan it being called "rules" though.
