I could guess here that it is a shortening of "time added on" ... Quarters being 20 minutes (sic) but most times going well over that due to umpires blowing "time-off" and "time-on" during the game, points at which the time-keepers "stop the clock" ... I personally don't mind "time -on" - much better than "extra time" as THAT is NOT what it is ...

Seeing as this thread has resurfaced, I read recently that Gilbee for the Doggies kicked 21 goals of a HBF last year! Tadhg's got some work to do to match that output. What's his best for a season does anyone know?
