I don't think that is the case. The Networks normally treat the delayed games like live games, with just an ad or two after every goal.

I think the main thing is the view that AFL still doesn't rate well in NSW. Whether Swans are premiers or not is irrelevant if they still don't rate. We'll see whether they do a few weeks into the season.

Agreed - it's a bit of a chicken / egg situation. AFL games in general will not rate highly when scheduled at ridiculous times.

As regards the Swans, I fear that ratings will be strong initially on the back of the premiership. However, fickle 'converts' will probably desert following the side if there is a run of poor results / performances, leaving the same 'hardcore' to watch on tv as in previous years.

This always amazed me, don't TEN usually finish a distant 3rd or 4th on a Saturday night no matter what they have on? Why not 4th with live footy as 4th with an old movie that everyone's seen before.....

I think you're assuming TV programmers exercise a degree of logic in their decisions...

There's definitely no evidence of that on any channel, is there.

I was excited initially to hear seven are getting the footy back, but as time goes by I am starting to doubt if there will be too much change. For me, two kids and a sizeable mortgage, (hey, I live in Sydney) sadly keep me far away from Foxtel (I miss it so much....)

What a great advertisement of the code to the Sydney market.

I have Fox thankfully - but surely this game could still be showed live instead of an hour's delay??!!
Do you really think C7 would do any better? Are they likely to put the footy before Las Vegas, Lost, Amazing Race, American Dad, Family Guy, Scrubs?

You can probably guess that I like Thursday nights on Seven.
Apart from that awful Amazing Race!

I don't have a problem with Nine or Ten not showing games live into Sydney, but how they both haven't come to an arrangement with Foxtel to take on those broadcasts over the past 5 years is beyond me.

Best thing about the next rights is that 7 and 10 have been forced into finding either a Pay TV partner or another broadcaster to show night games into the Northern States that they don't want to show.

I find it frustrating that the coverage is delayed as I like watching the game and listening to MMM commentary with Luffy, Beretta and Keka. I am unable to do this when 10 delay the game by 30 mins.
I can't help myself, if I know the game is on I can't wait I have to switch on the radio and listen to the game.

The thing that really grates with the delayed start is that they don't go straight into the game, they still have the 10 minutes or pre-mortem ( as I call it) before the game.
                          Bring it on!

As Scrubs timeslot is close to midnight already I don't think it would be an obstacle. Great show though!

7.30 is the time 10 has been advertising.
