    Another Swans triumph

    Another Swans triumph

Don't take an ounce of notice of all the nay-sayers who claim Sydney can't win two premierships in a row. For the ultra professional Swans, I, for one, believe that Roosy could well be offering similar utterings again come September 30, 2006.

    Great article,

    I particularly like this bit

Their recruiting policy has an unwritten "no @@@@head, no troublemaker" clause thrown in, and from what I can see it certainly seems to be working.
    However this bit.........

Plus the homegrown Sydney ruckman, Lewis Roberts-Thomson, whose talents last season were constantly denigrated by Melbourne-based commentators and who, in my opinion, should have won the Norm Smith Medal for best player on the field in the 2005 grand final.
    I think not

      . . . . not just Melbourne based commentators!

      And
      potential match-winners . . . . ex-Geelong ruckman Paul Chambers
He looks to have been given first shot as Jolly's understudy but gimme a break!

It certainly balances out a lot of the articles that have been written in recent weeks.

The point about retirements is spot on. I know Roosey has been reinforcing the fact we've lost 800-odd games of experience but the bottom line is Jason Ball was the only grand final player to retire, only Willo is aged over 30, and most of our players are set to improve even more this season.

All in all there are more than a few good reasons to be optimistic about this year.

I did like this comment though...

There is no argument that the Swans were the best team in 2005; if there are any dissenters just look at the scoreboard.

Enthusiastic and gung-ho, more like a fan than a journo, but he's made some valid points, even allowing for the gaffes about LRT and Chambers.
We are underrated by the commentators - but that'll do me.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I haven't read anyone claiming we are 'taking ourselves too seriously' but if that is true, that's hilarious. And extremely arrogant in its own right.

Well let us take ourselves too seriously, and them not seriously enough, and we'll hold that cup aloft once again.
