Pre Match Meet Up vs Bombers

Well the footy is finally back and to start off the season the AFL have sent us to Melbourne to play Essendon under the Dome yo kick things off. As in past years the TRWO tradition of pre match meet ups at Melbourne matches is on against and as per normal for matches at the Dome, the Melbourne group of RWO regulars (and the fair few interlopers from interstate) will be meeting up at the Colonial Hotel in the CBD for a few drinks and a feed before heading over to the Dome to watch the Swans either win or lose.

    So here are the details

    Where: Colonial Hotel
Corner of King St and Lonsdale St
When: This Saturday from around 4pm

For those who haven't been to the Colonial before, it is family friendly so bring the little ones if you have them tagging along and there are quality dining options available for those looking for a prematch feed (and better quality than what you'll get in the ground).

The RWO group is usually gathered around the tables under the small TV near the Lonsdale St entry (if you have problems just ask around, your sure to find us) and as the meetup goes on usually grows in size and we nab a extra few tables.

If you have any questions either reply below or PM me

Hope to see you all there

Quick question. Is the meet up in a smoke free part of the pub? With Mrs gs14 having asthma and a 3 month old bub just wanted to check before we decide whether to come or not.

BTW if it is a smoking area I'm not expecting you to change it on the chance we might get there.

If it has a restaurant, it is required to be smoke free under victorian law.

It serves meals to be eaten at tables in the area - does that make it a "restaurant" under these laws?

          I certainly hope so!

Yep, but if there is no barrier between the bar and the restaurant then smoke does not know when it can and can't go.

It is all one room /space so wouldn't the whole thing be a restaurant? Surely the laws would require some sort of division between the areas?

It used to be a real restaurant - Lazar's - many years ago.

I haven't been there for about 10 years. But from memory it was all one room. And no, not all pubs have sufficient barriers to stop smoke penetrating the eating area.

Anyone going to the Sydney Aussie Rules club up here?

Want to nab some good seats upstairs? Or go for the smaller TV near the "Red & White Bar" just down from there?

                  Meet there 6:30pm?

If it's designated a bistro area it will be smoke free. But you know what it's like. A little smoke doesn't worry us, just wanted to check though.
