The Swans are a great team - Thomas admits.

St Kilda coach Grant Thomas admits that amongst current peers the Swans are regarded as a great team...
"I think Sydney, rightfully amongst all its peers, would be regarded as a great team and we would like to be regarded as a great team."

I thought the coaches were Thomas' peers, not the captains.

        Good point, I misread.
Although a recent Sheedy article didn't sound like he was a fan.

Then again, who is Sheedy a fan of...apart from himself.

I actually think what Thomas is saying makes a lot of sense, and it harps back to the old saying of "A team of Stars vs a Star Team", witht eh swans falling into the later, and the Saints the former...

...and he wants the Saints to be like the Swans. A great team.

Thanks Grant. One of the few to acknowledge the swans publicly, without qualification.

He may have also meant that any premiership team would be regarded as great amongst their peers. After all there's only one each year, and what, 3 in five or six.

He has his eye on Sydney for when he becomes available mid-season.

                          By way of explanation HoneyJoys are a confection just as sweet as Brownies but made from Cornflakes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . well it amused me.

Thomas is certainly a different character than most AFL coaches. The Age had a similar article which carried even more emphasis on Thomas? admiration for Sydney. The article was virtually an admission that Roos so far has been a better coach than he has. Could you imagine Wallace or Sheedy saying that?

?Grant Thomas said yesterday that, in his view, it was the premier's esprit de corps that defined their campaign and impressed him so thoroughly that the Saints have set off in pursuit of their own higher state of collective devotion.?

Grant should know that that is very hard with that group of players. It has taken three years of 'we're a pretty ordinary playing group' by Roos to get them to bond like that up here. Can you imagine that happening at the Saints? Doubt it. Too many 'superstars' in that team IMO.
