im not a lloyd fan by any stretch. But he was impressive, i hate to admit it though. But i think its sour grapes to go on about diving and umpiring, cos it annoyed me when saints and eagles did that about us in last years finals.

Lloyd was good, no doubt but anyone who thinks the dive after the shoulder-to-shoulder contact with Leo in a marking contest deserved a free kick, then that person is probably already an AFL umpire.
no doubt he dives and the umpires were wrong several times in the 1st quarter. But lloyd was impressive and i dont think the dives were what gave them the win. It is annoying he gets away with it when hall at the same end gets nothing, and jude gets nothing for a punch to the head etc
Two of his free kicks really shouldn't have been given.
The 'push in the back' was pretty soft. Lloyd was already falling forward and Barry's contact to his back was incidental, no different to dozens of marking contests.
The contact as they both went for the ball was terrible. Barry definitely had eyes only for the ball and to me it looked like side on side contact, it's just that Lloyd went down like he'd been shot.
The first free, for holding, was definitely there and was a shocking piece of play by Barry.
From memory four of his goals were from good marks and one a snap after the ruck tap.
No doubt a great game by Lloyd.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

And didn't the umpire enhance his credibility 'explaining' to Leo that he never had eyes for the ball. Sometimes explaining decisions just proves beyond doubt you are wrong.
I hear not what you say, for the thunder of who you are.

I agree - whats the point in having "The Matthew Lloyd Rule" if you dont even enforce it on Matthew Lloyd? The clock on the TV showed that it had run out twice yet the umpires were obviously timing it differently.
Why is the clock not shown on the score board - I think it should so then the crowd knows too and it can be 'regulated' better.... Stupid rule.
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!
