    Roos careful on umps.

Roosey was his usual tactful self when asked about the umpiring on Saturday night.

    .Source

Come on Paul, it's time to do a James Hird and get stuck into the umpires. He did it two years ago and Essendon are still getting looked after by the umpires.

The club, and maybe even some RWOers will pay your fine and we'll get a better deal from the umpires

i think it's too early in the season to start complaining about the umps. Wait until round 10, when the critisizem usually starts flowing in.

      diagree with zlatorong thinking

I disagree with zlatorong thinking - to leave the bad umpiring complain till round ten or later. It puts so much MORE pressure on the the swans or any team if its biased against them!
All we ask is fair play, not decisions in favour for us. The umpiring decisions to apply for ALL players/teams whatever the rule is. Even a new AFL fan like myself can see the uneven decision making (often against Sydney) which makes the MOCKERY of AFL rules.
Doesn't the AFL want to promote the game fully/properly in Sydney?

Someone tell Roos and the boys to do what Dizzy Gilespie did in their last tour of India when they were facing a doctored spinner friendly pitch -

"I don't have much of an opinion on it, but I was talking to a friend before and he said the pitch was absolute rubbish."

Get's "his" opinion out without breaching any media/officials regulations. And he didn't get a fine, band or even a warning.

        Just DO IT!
That's the problem with modern day medicine - there's no more natural selection of the species.
No wonder there's so many Collingwood fans.

"SYDNEY could be asked to explain why its three captains ? Barry Hall, Leo Barry and Brett Kirk ? approached the umpires before the start of Saturday night's second quarter against Essendon at Telstra Dome."

I gotta admit it might have been more effective to approach them in a dark ally prior to the game.

I like the way you think Ruckman.

I guess it might be considered intimidating if 3 of them approach the Ump/s. One would be sufficient.

Aren't captains only allowed to speak to Umpirs at the 1/2 time break now?

I thought that was the basis of the "please explain" letter after the PF last year when Hall asked about the 2:1 free kicks count agst us.

We didn't lose the game cos of the umpiring. And I don't think the standard has dropped.

Impressed with Roos' comment on 'fainting' though. Comparable to Sheedy's reference to "martians"!

I don't think the umpires cost us the game, it's just so appalling to have them distracting from the game. And I don't think the standard of umpiring is any worse either, they were a blight on the game last year and they'll be a blight on the game this year. Business as usual.

Yeah, fair point. I've almost become inured to them.

Sitting between two fanatical Essendon fans Sat night softened my feelings toward the umps (yes they p|55 me off, but not nearly as much as Essendon supporters)!
