Well I'll be seeing it in Melbourne the week after, but it will still be emotional from this side of the box for me.

Do people know that it's being raised at 12:30?

The flag was just on TV! Folded up with Tim Bailey and Leo Barry With the Cup!
That's the problem with modern day medicine - there's no more natural selection of the species.
No wonder there's so many Collingwood fans.

I will react by clapping that the unfurling is over and the game can begin.

I will also keep a keen eye and nose out for Bart - as he will be smelly I may want to change seats.

Cut it out JF, you're making us all cry again!

I'm just happy I'll be able to watch the game on only a 30-minute delay. I obviously won't be able to watch all of our games this year, but this one's important.

I'll shed a tear on Sunday and think of my parents who are living in Shanghai and will not get to experience what I'll experience on Sunday.

what makes sunday all the more better is that apparently the Swans are getting people from the 3 original sponsors of the Sydney Swans to help with the unfurling of the 2005 flag and my boss and close personal family friend (Trevor Bidstrup) is amongst the people who will be in the official party.

It will be a proud day.

I'll probably get a tear or three. I still cry everytime I watch the GF and the final siren sounds.

I'll be lucky to get there at all. I still haven't received my membership card with a seat allocation.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

im making the trip down south for this because i just cannot miss this.

oh and sanecow, there was a time when there was no premiership cup, just the flag. it is historically important to the game.

thats why people use the phrase "won the flag"

but for all the reasons expressed earlier, ill probably cry like a big girl.

Shivers up the spine, light-headed, tear in the eye, butterflies in the stomach, stubby in the hand, weak at the knees, clenching of the sphincter and tent in the pants.

Oh. Did I say that last bit out loud?

Nobody cared enough to keep hold of them though apparently.

They tend to rot after many years in storage.

The custom of awarding a flag has been with us since the earliest days of football leagues in the 1870's.
