    Willoughby, Schmit & Davis,M

Willoughby, Schmit & Davis,M - Has anyone seen them play in the last year or so? Is there any chance one of them may make the seniors on a permanent (or even temporary) basis?

Schmidt must have a very good chance of making a debut soon, I reckon. Obviously he needs a chance (ie a senior player to get injured) but if the team is looking for an in-an-under type it should be between he and Moore. He was consistently very good last year in the twos, and looks to have had an excellent game at the weekend.

Willoughby and Davis will need injuries or a major leap forward this season. Willoughby looked good at times last year, but not in comparison to the likes of Malceksi, Moore, Schmidt and McVeigh. Both he and Davis have had injury interrupted pre-seasons.

Davis is a bit of a favourite of mine but he didn't have a great year last year. He was in and out with injury and never really got going. Still, there were glimpses of very nice play. He still looks pretty skinny however - so he's got to be a long shot to play senior footy this year.

Another I'm keen to see once he's back and running is Shaw. He's also had groin problems over the off-season but if he can get fit enough I reckon he's an outside chance to debut late this year, particularly if Doyle gets injured and Chambers remains unco.

His kicking style is awkward but reasonably effective (he contributed regularly on the score sheet last year). He is great a stoppages and looks pretty mobile. He is decently built for a teenager and plays with loads of enthusiasm.

Decent summary Liz. Schmidt definitely stands out because he has shown in and under ability, plus the nous and skill to kick accurately to a team mates advantage.
Willoughby just has never dominated in the twos. Having said that, I would hate for him to be cut without getting a chance, because I hark back to J. Crouch who also never dominated in the twos, but once promoted never looked back.
ATM Davis is a failed project, he really needs to stand up this year. Shaw has shown the potential to be a terrific tap ruckman, and also has a fair bit of BBB style mongrel in him - a good thing if kept in control. I reckon he is our most promising project player and will be watching his progress with interest this year.
