Footy Show to announce Drug users

Newman just said that they were going to announce the drug users, on the basis that it was on the internet.

I went to have a look at Big Footy and this message pops up

Seems to be a few problems in the database. We've taken BigFooty off line to get to the bottom of it. Thank you for your patience.

I wonder if this is related.

Would be flabbergasted if the C9 lawyers let them do this.

Yep, this looks like the story, an injunction has been taken out on 2 footy fan websites. Looks like BF could be in trouble.

And on that note, remember - please do NOT post anything speculative or libellous from any other fan site. Nothing that hasn't gone up on a major media source first - ie: TV, radio, papers or their internet sites.

I've had a long day, and I don't need narky phone calls from lawyers

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Looking at what they showed on TFS, the other footy board may have been something connected to one of the Adelaide clubs without being too specific.

I don't agree with the players being named, however Sam had a printout of the article and they showed shaded screenshots of the postings.

As I said previously, the three names they wont name are Darren Goldspink, Kevin Sheedy and Christie Malthouse.

I will state the following as a moderator at Big Footy.

"Since the start of the whole drugs mess a few weeks back, the Big Footy policy in regards to the naming of the three players involved is to delete and/or remove all posts and references to the players and clubs in questions so not to open Big Footy to any Legal problems that might arise from falsely naming players.

Big Footy being down is pure luck. I know that, just before the current message went up, the database dropped out for me and some threads contained no posts in them. Anyway that aside no names have been brought up and just left for a long period of time in the public spotlight on the main board. Normally they get picked up within minutes and moved to the bin and the user involved banned.

So Big Footy has had no reason to "hide" the site for a few hours tonight because Sam Newman wants to "do an Eddie" and give someone else the blame. Believe what you will, I'm sure some of you will take great liberities with this in any case......

Bigfooty has done everything within our power to prevent the three players from being named on the forums. Inevitably there are idiots who think they've got a scoop, who post some names from behind the safety of anonymity and a firewall (not naming any names, but there's a couple here who have been irresponsible selfish @@@@heads as well). The posts are removed as soon as possible.

As far as I am aware Bigfooty has not been contacted by the AFL - and unless it has happened in the past three hours both Robbie and I would know about it. So let's not jump to any conclusions.

I know the players but wouldn't name them on a public forum but am happy to tell people privately.

I saw a post with three names on BigFooty before it went down, but I won't get RWO in trouble by repeating them. The Age specified that they were non-Victorian, so that much can be said.

There have been posts with the three names before on Big Footy, none that resulted in the site "closing down for repairs". As Charlie said if legal action had been taken against the site we both would of known about it by now one way or another and would be able to inform you of whats going on.
